Re: add on software

I agree with Bill, I have used both, and Cabinet Planner is my preference.

Re: Vectric for plasma toolpaths

I use Aspire to draw up the item, but I use another program for the tool path.
Aspire does not do the THC, auto reverse interior cuts, or auto cut parts to allow for expansion,
and other things.

Re: Dear Michael Tyler

You cannot usually convert immediately. Import the job in inches, and choose OK.

Go back to "set job and dimensions", and change to MM.

It has to do with the way memory in Windows saves the immediate data.

Re: Oops lost machine coordinates can anyone help?

Jog and put the bit in one of the holes that you have already drilled. Find that hole in your program you drew the piece with, put your mouse over the center of a hole and you will see coordinates. Type those coordinates into the X and hit enter then the Y and hit enter, then you can rezero and you ...

Re: Large job size profile tool path doesn't work

I agree with Mezalick.
When ever I do plasma cuts with a .040 width of cut, I have to make the WOC larger to get a preview.

Use another toolpath with a larger bit and the pixelization will disappear, and you can see your preview.

Re: Profile cutting on both sides of line

Try using the vector that you have and offset outside 1/2 diameter of your bit to the outside, and use the "on the line" strategy. Then offset the center line to the inside, 1/2 diameter of your bit and use the "on the line" strategy again. Check your radius on the inside square. The other way is to...

The icons seem to close only a set of lines that only lack final closing.

Shift and select each of the two lines, and right click and select the option of closing, that you want.

Re: Plunge

try making your depth of your cut equal to the width of your bit, at 100 ipm you clips should hold it fine, and this will give you a starting point to get more aggressive with your cuts.

Re: New Computer - no LPT port

If you get a smooth stepper, use the ethernet model, ESS, have had much better luck and no "cannot find USB port" in the middle of a run. Windows and USB have never gotten along very well because of the BIOS, and windows power management. I have changed out on 3 machines, and no more problems. Roy

Russell,
You are not putting long screws through the center of the joints like the normal Maloof style joint?

Re: Default setting problem in 4.5: Material top

What I do to make sure my settings are the same each time is to make a blank file just the way I want it "save as", as example, "bottom zero", and save to an aspire folder on my desktop. Then in properties make the file read only, then it cannot be changed, you open your read only settings file, sav...

Re: Users Group in Houston

I would consider coming to a meeting. I am about 300 miles away, but the only meeting that has been close was the Dallas meeting in 2009. It was nice and small and very informative, because people had a chance to meet and talk. I learned more from meeting people and asking questions, than making a y...

Re: Nubie Problem with jagged edges instead of smooth holes

It looks like you are cutting node to node and it will leave jagged cuts. If you are running Mach software for a controller, be sure the IJ mode is selected in you config, and that your CV mode is checked as being on.

Re: pocket tool path problem

Set your Z somewhere above your material to 0, move the bit down .015 and measure the distance it actually moves.

If it moves .26 by measurement, and .015 by software, you need to tune the Z motor to the proper amount of steps to equal the movement of .015 for Z.
