martin54 wrote:What virtual machine are you running Chris??
If you only had 8.5 installed then I am guessing that your virtual hard drive would be more than big enough even if only a smallish percentage of free hard drive space is used.
Seems strange though that 8 runs ok & 8.5 doesn't :?
Virtualbox.

Re: 8.5 user interface slower?

Ok, specs on my computer: AMD FX 8120 processor, 8gb ram, GForce 8400GS graphics card. 4 cores of of the processor and 4gb of ram reserved for the vm. 50GB virtual hard drive for each vm. I rolled a fresh install yesterday with nothing but 8.5 installed and still hesitates in 3d work. I'm just going...

Re: 8.5 user interface slower?

Sorry but I believe you should not be running a 3K Aspire CAD program on a 200 dollar 4GB or less PC. I just ordered this PC build today. http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/user/rhubka/saved/#view=6fgRsY $1660 CDA converted to US $1300 It has 16 GB ram. The Ram cost $85.00 ($66.00 US - Cheap like Borsch). ...

Re: How do I split a 3D Finishing Job into smaller files

Definitely tape splitting. I ran a large 3d file over 5 days using tape splitting and it worked perfectly.

What version of Windows?

I disagree with Martin. There should be no need to "optimize" any recent version of Windows, especially on a decent PC.
4 gb is what's allocated to the vm, windows 7.

Re: 8.5 user interface slower?

Even if you are running a vm it's still windows so should be optimised to prevent a lot of the background stuff that's not needed running. I still run windows 98 through vmware player because there was certain software I used that I couldn't afford to upgrade although it hasn't been run for a while...

Re: 8.5 user interface slower?

Chris, if you are going to do a fresh install of windows then I am guessing that this is a computer that doesn't get used for much else other than the cnc machine. If that is the case then you may want to look at optimising windows at the same time, in fact even if you use the machine for other thi...

Re: 8.5 user interface slower?

Hi Chris, The error you are seeing where it asks you again is because you have filled up the memory allocated for toolpath undos. You get a warning because it means some old toolpath undo operations will be lost. If you are hitting this limit frequently then it may be worth increasing this value. Y...

Re: 8.5 user interface slower?

4gb of ram and no other programs running, I shouldn't have been short on memory. I'll be back in it tonight and I check memory usage.

8.5 user interface slower?

Is it just me or is 8.5 slower than 8.0? Speed is a big deal for me and the u/i seems slower in this new version, I'm back to click and wait. I actually thought I had gotten the 32 bit version by mistake but that's not it.

Re: From my clip art library

Somehow we ended up in a pricing discussion, something I usually avoid since I'm not really in the same business. I consider my competition to be vectorart3d and 3dmodelclub, and neither is focused like I am so they have relatively few military emblems available. But compare my pricing to theirs and...

Lol you guessed it! But my point is you couldn't pay more for it, it's a military emblem and I don't negotiate that price.
