Re: Flat Flags and Banners

I'll be doing a banner tonight, I'll give this a whirl. Looks like it will be a very quick, easy way to make all those folds. Thanks for sharing.

Re: 3d rendering problem

Is it an indicator that I haven't introduced too much of a negative "Base Height" in the component properties window if the entire model does not jump when I switch a part on and off in the "Component Tree"? I can adjust the slider and find a value that is just shy of making the entire model jump w...

Re: 3d rendering problem

They're there to be used, but you need to be careful with them. Here's a test you can do. Put it all back the way you had it (hopefully that's just reverting to your last save point) then make a single component of the total model. Turn off all the parts so you're left with the single component. Now...

Re: 3d rendering problem

The first time I wrote this technique up on this forum I recommended going negative for the weave, since then I realized it's not a good idea. When you go negative with it you're modeling under z zero and that's going to create problems. Click on scale model height, third icon from the right on the ...

Re: Feature Request...

I don't know how difficult this would be to implement, but I can't imagine I would ever use it. Sculpting a flat image of something 3d seems to me to be way more difficult since you can't rotate it around to see the different heights. You would still be able to rotate the 3d model. Sculpting on the...

Re: Model a picture of a persons face?

OK I have to ask, this is something that I am years away from being able to do but how do you start a project like this? Would you start with a picture that you turned into a component & then built up from that or would you start with a completely blank canvas & just use the picture as a sort of re...

Re: Version 8.5 Fatal Error

I got that same error the first time I installed 8.0, but I uninstalled re-downloaded and re-installed and it never happened again. I knew Vectric would never release it if it had such an obvious bug so I figured it had to be a corrupted download.

Re: Feature Request...

When creating models, I usually have both the 2d and 3d views tiled. It would be amazing if we were able to use the modeling tools on the 2d view but it would effect the 3d view. As an example, the scupting tool, having both views open, I would click and drag the smoothing tool over the 2d view and...

Re: 3d rendering problem

Thank you Brian for your quick reply. At first I was puzzled upon reading your comment that I had a lot of negative height, as the "Shape Height" was positive, and the "Base Height" was zero. So then I wondered if it was my large negative "Tilt" that you were indirectly referring to. So upon removi...

Re: Model a picture of a persons face?

Frunple, If I may make one suggestion. It's something I have done in the past and I see many other use the same approach.. I'm referring to teeth. In most cases I've seen, people will make a set of vectors for each tooth and then make them into one component. The teeth sit right next to each other,...

Re: 8.5 user interface slower?

So after all the discussion of ram needed for Aspire I'm still convinced that 4gb is enough if Aspire is all you're running. I only run Aspire in the windows virtual machine but I've usually got several things running in the host. I run 3 monitors, one has opera browser with my email open in it, one...
