Re: Most detailed yet with this process

I snapped a photo of two of my grand kids last week and processed it as a gift for their mom. I think she will be happy with it.

Re: Most detailed yet with this process

I describe the process in my post "New process first attempt" about a month ago.

Most detailed yet with this process

I thought I would see how much detail I could achieve with this process on wood. I downloaded a picture from pixabay that fit the bill and went to work. I put both images on one piece of wood; one on one side and the other on the flip side to use as examples. Here is what I ended up with. While ther...

Re: Some litho nightlight examples

They are 3 1/2 X 4 1/4 edge to edge. I get them from candlestonegifts.com as a kit or as individual components. The panels are made to snap into the nightlight with a press fit so there is no mounting technique so to speak. They come in vertical or horizontal configurations and the plug swivels 360 ...

Re: Dovetail - Toolpath Gadgets

Thanks much. I will have to see if it flies in Desktop. Would be great if it worked with PhotoVCarve as this would allow for some cool possibilities for work with edge lit acrylic.

Re: Dovetail - Toolpath Gadgets

I am not disputing the value of Vectric products. My experience so far is the PhotoVCarve and VC Desktop do a very good job and are fairly intuitive to navigate. If at some point I am able to afford Aspire I most certainly will do that. In the meantime I will continue to turn out great work within t...

Re: Dovetail - Toolpath Gadgets

It is too bad that none of the gadgets will work on VC Desktop. I can do some pretty nice work as it is but I could use some of the gadgets to get more out of my machine. At 24" X 36" my machine is as large as I can manage from my wheelchair; so upgrading to pro is an expense just for the sake of ad...

Re: Some litho nightlight examples

I am using candlestone. One variable that can change the complexion of the work dramatically is the light bulb. I have found that there are a variety of 1/2 watt led offerings. You can get color temperatures ranging from 2700 K to 5600 K.

Some litho nightlight examples

I thought I would share some of my litho nightlight works. My goal is to get potential clients to realize that these are just examples and that I can create unique custom lithos from their photo or artwork. I find it much more rewarding to create one off works. The problem I am having is in trying t...

Re: New process 1st attempt

Here is how I did it. I cut the relief using PhotoVCarve with these settings: 0.25mm radius tapered ball end mill, 30% step over, .060 max depth of cut, 40 ipm and 15 degree line angle. I set the Z zero .035 below the surface in order to machine a border that will contain the resin and give the fini...

Re: New process 1st attempt

Gray scale version. The epoxy has not yet set up and I am having a little trouble with the surface not wanting to remain flat. Small dimples want to form here and there so I find myself having to baby sit until it begins to thicken to the point that I best leave it alone for fear that my fiddling wil...

Re: New process 1st attempt

I actually had to toss out two batches of epoxy resin because of saturation and color issues. The third batch looked pretty good so I went with it. I say first attempt because I did not ruin the relief with either of the spoiled batches. When I get a a recipe or two nailed down I will post the "how ...

New process 1st attempt

This is a new process to me anyway. In addition to my first attempt using it this is also my first post on this site. I stared out with a relief I carved using PhotoVCarve. I cut is at 0.060 max depth and the result looked pretty good in terms of detail but "bland" would be a conservative adjective ...
