Re: editting in aspire

Any one with ideas? The way I'd do this is. Create a single line vector starting at the closed end of the original slot, by snapping to the midpoint and your second point would be placed by eyeballing just outside of where the outer profile crosses the slot and centered on the existing slot. Now dr...

Re: Corian V carving

Thanks Don. Will try your settings. The bits I have are upcut ballnose , double edge 90deg Vbits and double flute straight endmills. A I don't use any straight fluted cutters, I think this is more like scraping the sides, and using a tool with a spiral everything I have has an up spiral although an...

Re: Cell phone photos

Like Bob says, I send the image back enlarged to the size they want it or if there close enough I print it out so they can see how poor it will be.

Garbage in........ Garbage out.

Re: Corian V carving

Corian cuts much like a hardwood.
Andy, I think it cuts much easier than hardwood.
I Vcarve, Profile, or 2½D relief cutting between 9k to 12k with a feedrate between 1" to 3" inches per sec.
The chips peel off like small flakes like your cutting soap with a pocket knife. :)

Re: Layout Help Needed

Hi Barb, I've not used T-Tracks to give any good advice. But you've chosen to use 0.125 ballnose cutter for the T-track pockets tool path. A ballnose won't leave a square bottom corner for the T-Tracks to be seated properly. Using and 0.125" endmill, will leave square bottom and you'll also be able ...

Re: Any hints or tricks

I agree with the other posts. For only a 1/8" bit the feed rates and pass depths are very aggressive for hard wood. Thanks Adrian, I also agree with the feeds are aggressive. I did notice that the tool in the Link is a Non-Center cutting tool, and will cause troubles when trying to plunge. Although...

Re: Any hints or tricks

Chris,
If the vectors that your attempting to cut does not have a copyright, could you post your crv file with toolpaths? Also could you post photograph of the cutting end of your tool/tools your using on this project.

Re: Hard time figuring this out

On the inside profile of the pocket, you might try reversing the direction of the toolpath.
Other than that I don't know what it could be....
Let us know if you figure it out.
Good luck

Re: Hard time figuring this out

Hi andy, After looking at the tool specs, I wouldn't think the tool is flexing, but its possible. After adding up your geometry, your pocket should be .188 wide on all 4 sides. After subtracting your measurments of the pocket width, leaves a difference between 0.019" and 0.024" divided by 2 (for ins...

Re: Twas the Night before Christmas

Outstanding Job Michael,

Am wondering about the text, it appears to have snow at different places along the bottom of the text. Is this just facets in the vcarving or a bit of paint?
Buildings, trees and fence all out of single piece?

Again great work. btw, what software are you using??

Re: Looks for comments on my first completed project.

Ken, What kind of toolpath are you creating? What look are you after? We are assuming since you posted this in the Vcarve area that, that's your trying to achieve a Vcarve look. From your recent images, it appears the toolpath your using is profiling inside the lines or pocketing in side the lines. ...

Re: Looks for comments on my first completed project.

Hi Ken, Pretty good first attempt, but..... I have to agree with Michael. The top surface may not be perfectly flat, or there coud be a piece of foriegn material under the blank. I'm guessing, this may have been a line drawing from a search on the internet, and brought into Vcarve, Traced and Carved...
