Re: Buddha Figure

Scoville, Thank you! Here are the steps I take for small lettering: 1) Sand the surface smooth and seal with shellac (helps prevent tear out) 2) Take shallow cuts with very sharp 45 deg V-bit run slowly at high revs 3) Seal newly exposed end grain with shellac (prevents capillary action) 4) Apply a...

Snowman for the guys

I just recently upgraded from VCarve to Aspire. This is the first model I made from scratch. It is for a family Christmas gift exchange. The adults try to come up with fun gifts for $10 or less. Many times they are home made or modified store bought gifts. This one is for the guys. snowman painted.j...

Re: Virtual Zero Between Tool Paths

Applying the virtual zero again is a request to modify the the new toolpath file using the settings for the virtual zero that you previously determined. Just say yes. You still have to set the Z zero for the new tool. How will the system know the proper depth of the recently install bit, since it i...

Virtual Zero Between Tool Paths

When using different tool paths, how do you set the virtual zero when the depth of the wood changes depending on past cuts. My first tool path is a 3d roughing tool path which will remove up to .25" of material in some spots, mostly in the center of the work piece. When I change bits and run the 3d f...

Re: Tool Path Stops Without Error

Embarrassed beyond all get out, but I "think" I figured out what I did wrong. It is the first job I setup using Aspire and I saved the file as a CNCShark-Laser (inch) (*.tap), when I should have saved it as a CNCShark-USB 3D Contour (inch) (*.tap). I just saw the (inch)(*.tap) and selected that form...

Tool Path Stops Without Error

I am attempting to run a roughing tool path using a shark CNC. I load the file, zero out the work space and click to run the job. The bit spins up for a second or less and the job stops without making a cut. The computer or machine do not show any type of error message. I have tried power cycling th...

Positioning Components

I am new to aspire, but have been using Vcarve in the past. I am going through the tutorial on how to make leaves and acorns. I am swapping the acorns out with berries in an attempt to model a Christmas wreath. I cannot get the berries to be positioned on top of the leaves. Any suggestions will be h...

Re: Vbit Clearance Tool

Thank you for the quick reply. If I understand your answer correctly, I will save the two tool paths into separate files and run them independently from one another.

Vbit Clearance Tool

First time using the VCarve /Engraving function with the flat area clearance selected. Two different bits are selected, a vbit and an end mill.
1. Which bit will be used first?
2. Will the VCarve software prompt me to change the bits and then continue to run the rest of the job?

Thank you.

Cookies for Santa

This is the first automata that I have made, I call it "Cookies for Santa: Santa goes up and down the chimney trying to figure out who is stealing his cookies. The snowman is the culprit, we see him drinking the milk and moving the plate to get yet another cookie. Here is view of the front of it. cf...
