Re: Toolpaths and Layers

I'm thinking it has something to do with active layers. I changed active layers and it worked and didn't work. I lost track.

Maybe it has to do with this Trial V-Carve that I'm using?

Toolpaths and Layers

Is this something that everyone else knows, and I just discovered? I was trying different methods of organizing my customized parts based on another thread here. (http://forum.vectric.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=24890) I created a graphic outline of the State of Texas on a layer called "Texas". I create...

Re: Customized Parts

Thanks for your comments. They are valuable to me.

It seems, so far, that this is more of a personal preference about organization in general. Do you think so?

I was originally thinking that there might be something in the software or router computer that weighted one method more than the other.

Customized Parts

This question is more about file organization than routing. In your opinion and based on your experience , please comment on a method to organize the production of a customized part. I'm designing a part that has two faces. Let's call them front and back . These are items that will be produced regul...

Re: Documentation & Notation

Thanks! I just didn't think to look under the menu structure. I was looking for tools.

Not quite as functional (IMHO) as being able to point a note to a single object, but totally workable if I use the right words and references.

Documentation & Notation

Vcarve has a facility to provide dimensions, but I don't see an included way to just create notes. It would be very helpful for notes to be contained within the file for the project. I suppose it is there in the layers and text tools, so that's what I've been using. It still would be nice to be able...

Re: Guitar Neck Tilt back headstock

I don't know much about guitars.

So, this object has to be built out of one single slab of wood?

Can you have a joint where the slab changes direction?

Re: Using downloaded fonts

The fonts are just your computer's fonts. Installing new fonts makes them available to Vcarve etc.

Re: File Conversions

Now that you mention that, I ran across one that was like that. It looked like someone converted a bitmap to vector format, but the resulting (after removing stuff) vectors did not come close to approximating the original object. However, now they could honestly say it was a vector file. Sigh. PS. G...

Re: File Conversions

Yeah, I was smart enough to test some files all the way through and found out that those "free" things aren't necessarily free. Go figger!

Thanks!

Re: File Conversions

It's been a long day of reading and studying for me. That's my excuse. :D

The file format that I think I have a problem with is not AI, but SVG.

However, I think I've found the answer just the same. Thanks!

Re: File Conversions

Thanks, Joe. I did find a couple of online sites, and I'm not going to buy AI. Thanks!
