Re: Two-sided Carving a Dish

Andy, another nice project and an excellent video. Two sided projects are very satisfying (and IMHO not as difficult as you think it will be before you do one). I really like your wedge jig and plan on using that on my next two sided project after we get back from Jim McGrew's camp. Great stuff. Che...

Re: Solid Model Both Sides

The Cloth Dish video - linked to above is probably going to be confusing for someone using VCarve as its really an Aspire modeling example. This videos is probably the most useful to understand importing 3D models and setting them up for 2-sided machining - http://support.vectric.com/tutorials/V8/Le...

Re: Font List

The fonts in Aspire are just those you have on your PC in the C:\Windows\Fonts folder. You could always go into that folder in Windows and try listing them (set view to small icons) and then screen print the ones you have - perhaps there is a better way to get this as a list though. You can also add...

Re: Rounded Letters

This is actually quite a tricky shape to model correctly IMHO. First thing is to get an outline that is closer to the one your trying to emulate, the font you have is as has been stated not as wide as the one you show in the photo, you will need something where the widths of each part of the letter ...

Re: 3D

If you are looking to create a model from 2D data then VCarve is not capable of doing that, to build 3D models from 2D data you need Aspire. VCarve can only import existing 3D models. There are some domes/dishes in the clipart that comes with the program for those type of shapes, in theory you could...

Re: Everything moving to the bottom left corner when routing

John, you may want to talk to Axyz. In the distant past I remember that there was a setting in the Axyz Toolpath software that could move the location of toolpaths when they were imported. I think this was something to do with the toolpath origin and whether it used the origin from the imported data...

Re: Laurel Wreath Ribbon Search

I believe this was one of the models we had on the site that was based on Vector Art (2D) artwork, which we no longer have a license to sell. As such it is no longer available and that exact artwork is copyright to www.vectorart.com.
Sorry not to be more help.

James

We're busy putting the finishing touches on it. No firm date at present but hopefully there won't be too long to wait now.

Re: Rookie Profile Cutout Question

You need to create a vector around the outside edge of the 3D component to be able to cut it out. If you watch this video then it's covered from about the 16 minute mark - http://support.vectric.com/tutorials/V8 ... 3D_GS.html

Re: Manipulating molding clipart

VCarve does not allow you to distort a 3D object you would need Aspire to bend and overlap mouldings like you show in your image if made with a 3D component.

Re: 2 Rail Sweep Corner error

One of the 5 minute tips and tricks videos that Beki added last week shows you exactly how to deal with this - http://support.vectric.com/tips-and-tricks/selectedvideo.php?video_id=18 - in particular the last minute shows you the specific thing you need. There are some other videos on the two rail s...

Re: clip art

As Adrian said the files used in the videos are downloadable from the same page as the videos. To see what clipart is included with the software you can access a PDF document from the features page here: http://www.vectric.com/products/vcarve/ ... tm#FreeArt

Re: Two sided cutting

Hi Martin,

The tutorial on making the cloth-look 2-sided dish is here - http://support.vectric.com/tutorials/V8 ... ude_2.html - from last years User Group. Its not bite-size though more like feature length, it is an interesting project though IMHO.

Cheers,
James
