Re: initials on knife handle (knife already made)

Hi Bob, Not totally sure I fully understand, but if you are describing the toolpath preview looking incorrect, you also need to create a 3D finish toolpath that will show the actual 14 degree surface. This toolpath won't be run since the knife handle is already shaped - it only makes the toolpath pr...

Re: Importing files

In vcarve if something I import can't be seen on screen then I just hit the zoom to all button to find it.
Martin,
Please show us where the "zoom to all" button/command is in VCarve Pro?

Re: tool path review

Hi Ken,

Not sure what version you are using but the latest version, 7.0, added an 'Undo Last' to the Preview tab. It is limited to one undo, the last toolpath previewed, but that gives you a chance to change and recalculate that toolpath without needing to do the entire preview over.

Re: need vectorart3d.com dimensions

Gregg, If you find those models on the VectorArt 3D site you will also find a free .eps vector outline you can download for each. If you import these vectors into a project they will import at the same default size that the model will be. You can then resize the vector outline, while keeping X and Y...

See Adrian's post here:

For those wanting to install the patch from 4.012 all you need to do is use Help > Check for Updates from the main menu and follow the prompts.

If you uncheck the option "Color Shaded View" the X and Y view icons should show what you want.

Re: Toolpathing Problem Vcarve Pro V6

Hi Rich, I assume you are using a 0.25" bit? If so, the longer slots are exactly 0.25" wide and that can give problems. Try increasing the width of those slots a little bit and recalculate the toolpath. The small slots are working fine as they are already slightly wider than 0.25". There are a lot o...

Holiday Gift Ideas and plans

Hi all, I have started a new thread in the Aspire section that may help people get ideas and files for holiday gifts: http://www.vectric.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=18721 The Vectric Projects are either for Aspire only or Aspire/VCarve Pro and cannot be converted. However, posters who contribute ...

Hi all, It is that time of year again and as most of you know, handmade gifts are very treasured by all. With the forum membership growing as rapidly as it is, I thought it may help to start a thread where people can get ideas and download files. I hope this will be an open thread where others can c...

Re: Rockcliff pen holder

It is a non-rotating drag type tool so that is how I would set it up. I would also recommend using the Quick Engrave tool to create the toolpaths as this is intended for drag type tools, however you may also have success using a Profile toolpath with 'On' the vectors selected. You will probably need...

Re: Need a hand mirror crv file for christmas gift

The files may still give you an idea for one way to approach it and the vectors are not that hard. Start with a 5" circle that will be the pocket for the mirror, offset that outwards by some amount and add a handle that will be strong enough and a shape that is pleasing to the eye. Do the mirror sid...
