Thanks to all for the compliments. I would be glad to share the finishing details. For products, I used Zinsser's Seal Coat Shellac and General Finishes' Glaze Effects. Any shellac should work as long as it is dewaxed. This is the first time I've used a glaze and started with the General Finishes pr...

Ladies hand mirrors
Hi, Made these for my grandkids and a niece. Didn't take long and they were a big hit. Mirrors are 3x5 inches so that gives you a feel for overall size. I shaped and cut the mirror side first. Then made a pocket in scrap MDF and used that to hold the mirrors as the top was finished. Only issue I'll ...

Last years Christmas presents
Started these last November but unexpected eye surgery took me out of the shop until last week. Images are from Vector Art 3D's Animal Collection. Carved the images in hard maple and cut out before finishing. Finished with multiple coats of shellac and glaze. Inlayed the panels into a simple oak fra...

Chuck, I don't mind sharing. To develop the cut files, I copied the logo file multiple times, each time renaming it to one of the woods I would be using. For example, cherry.crv. I then opened each file and deleted the other woods. I copied the individual pieces until I had enough, then manually pos...

Thanks to all for the nice comments. To clarify, the logo, including text, was professionally designed by a company that does that. I was supplied an .EPS file which included the fonts. I did modify the logo to make it a better layout for the inlays. The customer approved all the changes. Les, I hav...

First project for profit
Just got back from delivering a sign, my first commercial job for a profit. The store features high quality furniture from shops in Pennsylvania, Ohio and Indiana and the owner wanted a sign that looked like a piece of furniture. It is double-sided and will hang just inside the store’s entrance door...
