Re: object merge tools

Your design sounds like it is symmetrical. If so, trim the vectors in one quadrant (delete the rest) and use the mirror tool to fill the remaining 3 quadrants.

Re: Restoring tool data base

If you are worried about a full reinstall you can download and install the trial version and then use the Export/Import feature of the tool database to bring the Imperial tools back into your registered version. This will only restore the tools that come in the original tool database and not any you...

The Help document outlines a procedure for deleting multiple layers. Perhaps it will help.

Re: Vectors again

My personal preference is to create shapes with arcs when possible or convert to arcs using the Fit Curves to Vectors tool before using the Offset tool. If you offset a Bezier curve, it creates the short line segments as you have observed. If you offset an Arc, it creates another arc, which is good....

Excellent work Paul. Thanks for taking the time to document the process and post it.

Re: opening dxf file

I downloaded the file you posted and didn't see multiple vectors. I ran a shallow profile cut and it looked fine to me. You were lucky. The vectors posted have a few issues that could cause issues with certain toolpaths. There are a few loops and stray vectors and some of the segments that should b...

Re: Image needed

I assume I am to put a check mark in all four rough tool paths and save it to one file and the same for the finish. Is this correct? Yes, that is correct plus you need to be sure the option box circled in the snip below is checked. You are limited as to what you can do with the imported toolpaths b...

Re: Image needed

Robert, Cut3D only works with one model at a time. If you also have Cut2D or VCarve Pro you can set your file up in Cut3D, calculate the toolpaths and save it. Then use the File>Import>Import PhotoVCarve or Cut3D toolpaths to import the toolpaths into Cut2D or VCP. Import the number of times you nee...

Re: PostP question

From the Help pull-down menu there is a link to open the Post Processor Editing Guide. This would be a good place to start and hopefully users familiar with your machine can contribute more.

Re: Notes in Aspire

Actually, they are different. The one accessible from the Edit menu is File Notes and the one accessible from the toolpath menu is Toolpath Notes. There is information in the Help Document/Reference Manual and the Post Processor Editing Guide as to how they are used. Tim Edit: I see Michael already ...

Re: Carving a bowl

A 3D finish toolpath is always a single pass (it assumes all excess has already been removed by a 3D roughing pass) so I don't understand where you are seeing air-cutting. If 16 hours doesn't seem correct, it is either an inefficient toolpath setup, machine related (limited in feed and speed) or you...

Re: Carbles Board Game

The carbles4 file is a true VCarve Pro file and should open fine.

The carbles6 file is a toolpath file in text format. It's file extension has been incorrectly changed to .crv, which is creating the issue.

Re: initials on knife handle (knife already made)

Hi Bob, I am happy that helped. The first two components were already in your file and Component 3 is the one made with my 2 rail sweep. If you look at the profile on the left side, that is the dimensions of your material block when viewed from the end - 0.5" wide by 0.5" high but with the top slope...

Re: initials on knife handle (knife already made)

I think I found the problem and that is your 3D component is not 14 degrees on the surface. If you used the vectors off to the right of the material surface you need to have the correct length legs on each end to ensure the 14 degrees is maintained during the sweep. See if this file looks better. Tim
