Re: First try using rotary attachment on Stinger I
This is the finished project. For a first time attempt it came out pretty good and was a good learning experience. Hopefully the next rotary project will not be such a challenge.

First try using rotary attachment on Stinger I
Our turning club put out a challenge to make something out of a a 41" x 2" square piece of Cherry. Since I have not used my rotary attachment yet, why not give it a try. After some thought, I decided to make a walking cane, but I decided to turn the cane on my regular lathe and then did some engravi...

Ted, Do regular v carving, rub coffee grounds into carving, soak with CA glue, after dry, sand smooth. Repeat as necessary to fill in any holes left, it may take several applications. Apply finish of choice. I buy the cheapest non drinkable coffee I can find and you can use used coffee grounds, they...

Last minute jobs before Christmas
Finished up the last two orders for Christmas. My B-I-L had an old knife blade in need of a new handle and ask me if I could come up with something. The other, was a sign with the house number for a lady to place in her garden. I told her I was not sure how well it would hold up exposed to the eleme...

First attempt at Inlay
Tried my first attempt at doing an inlay in a cutting board for a customer. I guess it is OK, since I don't have anything to compare it against. I was not real pleased with the way inlay fit, I just did not think it fit as good as it should. I read the post on doing inlays several times and tried so...

One of the members of our turning club was asked to make a jewelry box for a lady but he did not have the time. I used the paradise box plans from Vectric to make the box and engraved the lady's granddaughters name on the lid. The wood is maple with a lacquer finish. The other project is for a gentl...

Re: Wine Glass Holders
Here is a wine glass holder I made for a couples wedding. I took the image of the couple from their wedding invitation and made a vector from it to engrave on the glass holder, then filled in with coffee grounds.

Dan, I assume you are referring to the coffee grounds, I use super thin and then hit it with a little accelerator.

Cutting Board
The customer wanted a cutting board to cover the griddle area, which she does not use anymore, on her antique stove. This stove was huge, it look like something that was in a restaurant. The size of the cutting board is 1 3/8 X 25 X 27 and she wanted to know if I could engrave something on one side....

Re: OREO COOKIE
Buck4 was so kind to share his OREO file with me to make a box for my granddaughters. Well, I haven't gotten around to making them one yet, but I did make one to donate to the Beads of Courage project at SWAT this year in Waco, Texas. BOC is a program where woodworkers make boxes for patients that a...

Re: Salt Box Lids
Thanks for the suggestions, they are appreciated. The .crv file I uploaded is the original file that I first tried carving. I did make the small lettering a seperate toolpath, used different fonts, bold font, kerning, nudging and adjusting start depth. The results were fair to not good at all and my...

Salt Box Lids
I have a customer who wants some salt boxes with their logo on the lids. It's a fairly simple logo that I planed to vcarve, then fill in with coffee grounds as I have done with other projects. The only problem I'm having is the small lettering at the bottom of the logo. No matter what font I use and...

Re: More Desk Plaques
Thanks for the comments, they are appreciated. Pretty simple project, the material is white corian which I v-carved the logo and name with 60 deg. v bit. Used black Krylon paint for the name, blue for the outline of the eagle logo and a yellow paint pen to do the beak. Then cut some brackets for the...
