Medallions for chairs

My B-I-L and wife were one of the many people whose home flooded last year in South Louisiana. They are back in the house and all the work has been completed. They were able to save their dining room table and chairs but had to refinish them. Each chair had a medallion on the back that he wanted to ...

Rotary work

Still playing around with my rotary attachment for my CNC. My daughters F-I-L is a big Harley fan and has two Harleys that he rides. So, I decided to make him a pepper grinder with the Harley logo engraved in it. Then, we have good friends that live in Texas, so I engraved a TX. Longhorn on one side...

Re: Pepper Grinders

Chris, I got them from Woodcraft, but there are several companies that carry them, Woodcraft had them on sale. I was well pleased with the quality of the mechanism. The only thing is, the parts are metal, I would recommend that you use it for pepper only. It will grind salt, but it will corrode the ...

Pepper Grinders

Playing around with the rotary attachment. This is a style of peppermill that I make for a spice store that carry some if my items. I thought it would be nice if I could do some engraving on them. Fleur-de-lis are a big seller on just about anything, so I put a couple of Fleur-de-lis on one and then...

Re: First try using rotary attachment on Stinger I

Thanks for the comments, I appreciate them. I cut the shape of the hammer head out with a band saw and fine tuned it with a rotary sander.

Re: First try using rotary attachment on Stinger I

This is the finished project. For a first time attempt it came out pretty good and was a good learning experience. Hopefully the next rotary project will not be such a challenge.

First try using rotary attachment on Stinger I

Our turning club put out a challenge to make something out of a a 41" x 2" square piece of Cherry. Since I have not used my rotary attachment yet, why not give it a try. After some thought, I decided to make a walking cane, but I decided to turn the cane on my regular lathe and then did some engravi...

Ted, Do regular v carving, rub coffee grounds into carving, soak with CA glue, after dry, sand smooth. Repeat as necessary to fill in any holes left, it may take several applications. Apply finish of choice. I buy the cheapest non drinkable coffee I can find and you can use used coffee grounds, they...

Last minute jobs before Christmas

Finished up the last two orders for Christmas. My B-I-L had an old knife blade in need of a new handle and ask me if I could come up with something. The other, was a sign with the house number for a lady to place in her garden. I told her I was not sure how well it would hold up exposed to the eleme...

First attempt at Inlay

Tried my first attempt at doing an inlay in a cutting board for a customer. I guess it is OK, since I don't have anything to compare it against. I was not real pleased with the way inlay fit, I just did not think it fit as good as it should. I read the post on doing inlays several times and tried so...

One of the members of our turning club was asked to make a jewelry box for a lady but he did not have the time. I used the paradise box plans from Vectric to make the box and engraved the lady's granddaughters name on the lid. The wood is maple with a lacquer finish. The other project is for a gentl...

Re: Wine Glass Holders

Here is a wine glass holder I made for a couples wedding. I took the image of the couple from their wedding invitation and made a vector from it to engrave on the glass holder, then filled in with coffee grounds.
