NICE Stan! Not my Taste but very nice workmanship! How's butternut to work 3D? Got some, but all I've done is surface some. Makes shop smell good :)

Beautiful work as usual! Think you just invented another way for horse people to spend their money:)
The flourish and carving on a ellipse dome really have a nice impact! Like the flourish--Yours?
Great Job :)

Re: Toy Excavator

Thanks Dale, As we don't have Aspire or indexer yet, on "to do" list(as insufficiently caffeinated "I think Dale's trying to "wrap" my poor brain":) ).
Black plastic to well head on water line, but stereo goes to copper rod earth ground through main panel.
Thanks again,

Re: Seahorse box, birthday present

Thanks Glenn(Glen?) Which is it drives me crazy mis-spelling someones Name. Yep, got supplier right first time :) Only placed the 2 orders so far, but very impressed by speed and wood. I've gotten better, but only by cherry-picking. very consistent. Funny, on Mom's Xmas buttons leftover Birds-eye fr...

Re: Seahorse box, birthday present

Glenn & CarveOne, Just a quick question--Just about to reorder button stock and saw they carry Yellowheart and Purpleheart in .25" scrollsaw ready available. Other than Purpleheart turning black if it gets too hot--is there anything else about these 2 that would come in handy, and do you think they ...

Re: Cut this with V-Carve only

Congrats! :) Would you mind posting a 3D preview with the toolpaths showing so I can attempt to wrap my brain around it? How did you sand? Just used a Nyalox 240G 4"wheel on some buttons and they came out great(had been using 1"3M radialbristle discs with Foredom). Good end to a bunch of head scratc...

Re: Toy Excavator

Thanks Dale, The walking sticks are beautifully done! Especially that carved one :) Beyond our little machine as far as capacity though. With an indexer could the shapes on the top ones be done with the "Wrap" Gadget(just wondering). Thanks for cutter link-Bookmarked! I only glanced at it, but saw "...

Re: Drilling etc?

I use the profile inside line with spiral ramp a LOT that Adrian mentioned. MUCH faster than peck drilling and easy to change diameter of hole(dowels etc.) and your not limited to the diameter of the bit (especially if bit isn't nominal- which it usually isn't) and is great for holes that have to be...

Re: need help, cuts wrong width

Tatin, Just a thought, but could 1 be run with a pass depth about .06" just to eliminate deflection. How much bit is sticking out?
Sorry if I'm being a pain but it's just bugging me. :)

Re: need help, cuts wrong width

Andy, Just thinking and wondering if it couldn't be deflection? What's the shank on that bit, and is it an actual radiused end mill-or a bowl and tray style bit. For a similar project but not as deep (I was just playing with yours) I used this type of strategy for my SE Tools 1/4" shank 3/4D .25R bo...

Re: need help, cuts wrong width

Ilwood, It's the .25R on the bit. On the .1" cut only a portion of the radius is cutting so it can get closer to your vector. In the .3" cut you are using the full tool diameter so it has to "step back" to stay within vector.

How do you like that cutter for smaller pockets? Is bottom finish good?

Re: Feeds and speeds for very small Router bits

It says it's based on the ER-20 collet and if so it's unlike what you're used to so read instructions carefully as you have to snap collet and nut apart and clean at bit changes(compressed air 30 seconds) and then snap it back together(VERY easy actually). Hope they have your router. http://www.prec...

Re: Feeds and speeds for very small Router bits

2009, but pertinent as far as the Precise Collet I should think.
