Re: SCULPTING

Bart you might want to copy the component into the working model, then you can sculp or smooth. You can do that from the Component Manager. Select the item or items and then click the button at the bottom.

Re: O.T My Z Axis dives down into the wood...

Did you check the actual Z travel with a ruler? If you zero in the air somewhere and then jog exactly one inch, did your axis move exactly one inch?

Re: Why does this throw away the wrong material?

It is indeed too bad we couldn't pick and choose the material to "throw away". It would make the finished preview much nicer as a selling feature. I always thought it was a bit odd in the video with the wingspar how instead of offsetting the inner cutouts, they were pocketed. Seemed like a waste (p...

Re: hot steppers and end mill question

Phil gave me the heads up on these guys. They have a good selection and the prices are nice. I'm happy with the results. http://www.carbideselect.com/index.php I also use a 1/2 inch straight shank ER11 collet from MSC. I bought it about 3 years ago and it still works great. You can get expansion col...

Re: Importing DXF's

Try this one and see if your able to import it. I have always used 2004 dxf format when I save, I don't recall ever having a problem. There are alot of freebe's on the net that I was unable to import into VCP in the past. Maybe you could post the file and we could convert it over for ya.

This should be possible. I think it would depend upon the font used.

Re: weld to previous un-related vector lines into one new vecto

Jim you can select two vectors (not in node edit mode) and then right click and select join vectors. Then right click again and select close vectors.

Re: Job Sheet

I seem to remember it being requested back during Beta of VCP. I attach a print out of a screen capture to the piece of wood the job is assigned to. It might be weeks before I actually cut it so this is my way of keeping track and not using the blank for something else. The screen capture will have ...

Re: Could VCarve be used for veneer marquetry???

I have cut text using a 30 degree v bit. The letters were only 3/8 high. I placed the veneer upside down on mounting tape by 3M and cut on the line. The pocket was cut just a tad smaller with a .01 fish tail end mill. I glued the letters in and used a press to clamp it until it dried and then lightl...

Re: Object-relative coordinates in VC Pro?

I always pull from the middle, I know on the larger machines thats not really practical, but mine is a small homemade (24x24) so it's easy to refernce from the center of the material. Once a tool change is needed I go to a uncut area and jog down to a plastic shim plate and then tighten up my chuck ...
