Re: Z Zero - Top or Bottom of Part?

Most of the time I set sero on the top, but, if the top of the part is going to be carved away and there is a tool change, then i will set zero at a bottom.

Mark wrote:Hi Chuck,

Do you have write access to the drive where your models are stored?

Could you go to "Help > About" and confirm the version of Cut3D that you are running please?

Cheers,

Mark.

Re: slicing

Hi Chuck, that is mysterious, I cannot get my copy to give me that message even when I mess with the settings or set the file to be very small! I will talk to the guys at Vectric direct and see if they have any ideas (a mystery!) That is strange...I have never had a need to slice one of your models...

Re: slicing

You should be able to slice a V3M model, although I have not checked a B and C style, but A style should work, I just did it as a test. I just set the size on the first tab and did nothing on the second other than hit the Slice Model.. button. Perhaps you need to make sure the file is a fresh V3M a...

Re: slicing

I think the file format might make a difference. My .V3M files cannot be sliced Does it tell you that you can't do it when you click the button? I have lots of V3M files and I can slice them with Cut3D. It keeps telling you to set the dims...I've changed everything on tap two but the window keeps p...

Re: fade more than once

I am not sure if I am doing something wrong or maybe what I am attempting is not possible. I am trying to use the Rose-A and make it 1.5" tall. When I do this the petals look great but the leaves look fat, so I try to fade from the center out, but it only works on one side. Is there a way to do thi...

Re: Power to the peop..uh..er...spindle

Hi Mark, Glad I could help. I should have explained the turning off code too. You could use the M07 and M09 if you wired your equipment to use those codes, but the M03 and M05 are the correct codes. M30 just turns everything off. Some folks don't like the spindle under computer control but I have f...

Re: slicing

Strange, I can slice the VectorArt3D files without problems. It tell me to set the material size and margins in tab 2 and once I've done that I click the Slice Model button at the bottom of the page and away it goes. Not sure if the result is 100% what I expected (I don't do slicing normally) but i...

Re: slicing

It is just the files purchased from VectorArt3d.com that can't be sliced. Is there a way to slice these? I don't think a model from VectorArt3D can be sliced. But the same model in Aspire will allow you to change the file over to a STL and then opened up in Cut3d. Check with James and maybe he can ...

Re: Power to the peop..uh..er...spindle

Hi Chuch, What postprocessor do you use? Does it generate the M07 and M09 for you automatically or did you have to do some sort of modification to get that to happen? Did Vectric help you with this? Thanks for your help, Mark I use Mach2/3 ATC Archs inch. The file can be opened in notepad and then ...

Mark I use the coolant on and off to control a SSR. It in turn controls the router. My PP i use has the M07 at the beginning and a M09 at the end. I also have a override switch wired in parallel so i can turn the router on without using Mach and a switch wired in series on the frame of my Y to disab...

Re: Tool Choice Advice?

I'm waiting for my Aspire disc to arrive :D In the meantime, if I wanted to cut the bird in, should I use a V bit or an end mill? John it would be a question of preference. Myself, I would use a Vbit, but I think i would offset in a bit for each region, this would give a very small amount of materi...
