Re: Lithophane lighting

Thats pretty cool Andy, thanks for sharing :)

(i think the flat spot on the LED is the Cathode which would be negative. The Anode (positive) will have the longer lead on new diodes)

Re: Have I omitted an option?

Did the SW model have the middle drawn up to remove it. I guess that for Cut3d to remove the material it would need a surface at the bottom (front of the case?). Can you show a screen shot of the model?

Re: More Cribbage stuff

Neal really nice work.
Is the outside ring on a slant? The pic is kinda decieving. If it is, what did you use to drill the peg holes with.

Also I like that background, did you model that up?

Re: stains to use water based vs oil vs gel

You can always try the "wax before shoe polish after" technique. Make sure your wood is super flat (surface it before you wax it). Apply the shoe polish with a fine brush and stroke with the veins, then wipe it down with a soft cloth. let it set for a spell then lightly sand and then clean and then ...

Re: scaling

Sorry for the delayed response -- had to go out of town. What I'm saying is that even though I import a dxf file that is scaled in inches, when I import it into VCarvePro and am asked to set material size, the dimensions that are already there are, like, 1800 for x and 1150 for y. When I change the...

Re: PhotoVCarve Fun

Thanks :D I'll try taking some better pictures tonight with my wife's digital camera. And maybe some pics of Litho #1 and #4. I'm going to try to cobble together some deep frames with built in white LED's. It's time for a trip to the dollar-store for some cheapo LED flashlights that I can cannibali...

Re: Aspire user manual?

I made a sign for the IT guy at work, in exchange he printed out everything on the DVD, He even put the holes in it and stuck in a binder with tab seperators. Maybe a local print shop would consider the same deal.

Re: Disappointed in Delivery

Well, Again I have to say Vectric is impressive. They have their fulfillment system working pretty well here in the States. I ordered my Aspire on Monday and received it today, Friday! Heck, I cannot even get anything in-state that fast!! Only one caveat and it's minor. The DVD came in a little squ...

Re: Molasses and duck down

Joe I'm guessing that your trying to hold very specific heights. When you change the height of one component from the Component Manager are you only selecting that one component? Make sure the other components are unchecked. Here the rope is .25 tall and the dished out area is .4 deep. The eagle is ...

Re: Aspire DVD

No not really, I understand your point perfectly. You want to cut something today instead of next week. I myself prefer that a "hard copy" be delivered. I'm fairly confident that most of the Aspire owners feel the same.

I hope you are able to get the software soon.

Don't forget about the 1.2GB of free models that come with the Aspire software. And the 2GB of tutorials as well.

Re: photovcarve+cut3d+vcarvepro=Aspire???

Don't forget that Aspire will allow you to pick and place 3d models from other sources. You can place as many models into a project that you like. There are thousands of models available on the internet. No artistic skills needed to place a few 3d models into a design. I just downloaded 6 free model...

Re: Actual Size

I have scaled photographs to actual size, but I used PhotoShop to do it. If you draw a one inch box in your VCarve file and then pocket cut it, then save the preview and open it in a editing program, you should be able to draw a boundary box the exact same size as the pocket cut box. Once it is sele...
