Re: Sign for my horse lover coworker
Thanks for your wonderful comments. You're right on the pricing. Probably best not to suggest anything. I'm very happy on how it turned out.

Sign for my horse lover coworker
Hey everyone, Made this sign for my coworker to give to her husband for Xmas. As a newbie, It's without a doubt my best work yet. Sign measures about 10" x 18". Made of oak. With all the tool changes, the total cut time was just over 3.5 hours. I have no idea what to charge her for this. I was think...

Re: BAD vcarve letter quality.. Wasn't always like this
Hey guys thanks. Russ- I have 12 orders of the same sign. I got 6 done so to answer your question, it is a font I've used. The first one was very nice. I noticed by mid way thru the 4th sign that the quality of the letters really started to deteriorate. It makes sense why the problem wasn't really v...

Re: BAD vcarve letter quality.. Wasn't always like this
Thanks everyone for the good responses. Yes, esteeme1.. It returns to zero spot on. That why I had had to doubt that it was losing steps. Well I bought a new 60* bit from Menards today. Not as good as my Centurion bit but at least it was new. Did the same job tonight. By the way, it's a sign carved ...

Re: BAD vcarve letter quality.. Wasn't always like this
Hi. Thanks for chiming in. I'm really hoping it's the bit. Feed rate was fairly slow. It's my only 60* bit until I get a new one. I guess I could try a 90* out and see. There is some really small letters in the job and that's why I used the 60. It was an hour long job. I think I can salvage it with ...

BAD vcarve letter quality.. Wasn't always like this
Hey everyone- I don't know what's going on here but my vcarves look very bad now. Used to carve beautiful. Check out the pic. In anyones experience could this be a case of a dull bit or missing steps? Check out the top of the N in the pic. It's very jagged. What would cause this? I'm stumped. Thanks...

First time Avery paint mask, Question about procedure order
Hey guys, I did a bit of a search but really didn't find my answer. I got my first job where paint mask will be a must to save me time. I was going to stain the wood first, apply the paint mask, vcarve, then paint the letters, remove the masking film and then apply polyurethane to the entire thing. ...

Re: Anyway to remove jagged edge due to texture cut
Yes!!! That's EXACTLY what I wanted. Amazing what a few numbers will do to a project :) 2 less toolpaths now and even the projected run time went down considerably. For some reason I had my texture at .50 depth and the pocket at .25 depth. Thanks Robert. I'm still playing with the horse trying to de...

Re: Anyway to remove jagged edge due to texture cut
Hi rej, I'm using a .250" ball nose. I put .125 in for the boundary vector offset on the texture toolpath. Still looks pretty jagged as a saw blade in spots. This is on the preview. Perhaps a real life cut would be different? If you want, I can email you the file and you can preview it. If you don't...

Re: Anyway to remove jagged edge due to texture cut
Hey Routnabout, I just read up on that function. Up until now, I haven't even used that or really studied on what it was for. I'm not sure it pertains to my particular project based on this, "This toggle is used to project toolpaths on to 3D components within Aspire. If you have a 3D component that ...

Re: Anyway to remove jagged edge due to texture cut
Hi. Thanks for trying to help me out. I think I did what you were telling me. I first created an offset of .08 around the horse, the horseshoes and the inside oval shape Then I did a pocket 1/4" down I then did a texture tool path based on the same offsets as the pocket Finally I did a profile INSID...
