Re: James is moving on!
All the best in the future, James. I am sure whatever you decide to do, it will be done well and you'll be a success. Thanks for all your help in the past several years, your friendliness and willingness to entertain "dumb" questions by people such as myself! It was always a pleasure to speak to you...

Re: Kids rocking horse from Baltic birch ply
Just saw this, and emailed the files to you. One update: I have experienced some "rowdy" rocking in the past few months and I would now add a small bump on the front and rear bottom edge of the rockers. The horse rocks very easily and can flip if the child gets going with vigor! Just redraw the rock...

Re: Tool Path pass depth vs diameter
I run a Shopbot Alpha with a 4 HP HSD spindle. Generally, I cut sheet stock mostly with a 1/4" down spiral, or compression spiral bit. I regularly cut 1/2" and 3/4" material almost all the way through in one pass (usually leave 30 to 50 thousandths) and then go around again and cut all the way throu...

Re: Aspire camp 2016 registration
Sorry to say, I will have to cancel my trip to SC this year.. work is just too busy, and I am in the middle of a large kitchen with a tight deadline (plus several other jobs going on), and taking 3 days off next week isn't going to work, unfortunately. I guess someone else can take my seat - but I'd...

Re: Kids rocking horse from Baltic birch ply
cannot claim the design as my own, it appeared in a now-defunct Canadian home improvement magazine a number of years ago What would that magazine be and what issue number/date if you still know the information? I'd like to see if the central library here in Vancouver has a copy. Steven It was in th...

Re: Kids rocking horse from Baltic birch ply
I sent you the dxf file. You should be able to import the vectors and tool path your own. For those with the DXF file, you will simply be cutting out the parts inside and outside of the line - and the grooves for the kerfed bending is done on the line, with a 1/8" bit, leaving about 3/32" left of th...

Re: Kids rocking horse from Baltic birch ply
Mike, I cannot claim the design as my own, it appeared in a now-defunct Canadian home improvement magazine a number of years ago. I just did my own take on the idea (of making it all from Baltic birch) and of course saved a lot of time by drawing and cutting in Aspire. I do love making things from t...

Re: Kids rocking horse from Baltic birch ply
Dan, file sent a few minutes ago. One thing - the rockers are slightly longer from one end to the dowel hole than the other. After you glue up the two halves to make two rockers, make sure they are both facing the same direction front to back - with the longer section in the front to get the weight ...

Kids rocking horse from Baltic birch ply
Hello Vectric forum members... I'm not on here too often, but I thought I'd post a simple project I recently completed. A few years back (well, back in 2012) I started drawing a rocking horse in Aspire. Completely made in 12mm Baltic birch plywood. At the time, my son, Joseph, was just over a year o...

Re: Aspire Camp 2016
Hey Jim,
Id probably like to make the trek back to your place in the spring, if work and family life allows me the time off, lol.
Please let me know if you are holding another event. I am not on facebook.
Thanks,
Andrew Coholic
