Re: Beki's Beer Caddy Revisited
Bob, I have a bigger table so doubled the the layout to make 2 per cutout. I'm also thinking of stack in the material and sing 1/4 or 3/8 material and a compression bit. As I look at the drawing you have 2 boxes :?: that were on the drawing but not cut. Capture.JPG What were their purpose? I've also...

Re: Question about adding tree leaf texture
Did you ever get this done? Curious as to what you did. :?: A few weeks back I asked advice on creating a relief carving of a tree based on a logo. The client had very specific ideas. I actually presented her with 3 carved options with Aspire images to show both a straight on and angled view. 1. ba...

Re: Wood for boat sign recommendations
Here'[s the result of the boat sign The picture below is General Finishes Cedar Exterior Stain. It's amazing how the color changes based n how the light hits it. All the signs are the same color. The wide angle lens also distorts the signs. They are all 9 feet long. 20200317_001513.jpg 20200317_0156...

Re: Question about adding tree leaf texture
OK just my own personal opinion but often customers don't know as well as we do what works, what doesn't work or what things will look like when finished & it's down to us (to some degree) to educate them. I worked like that for years as a signmaker doing cad cut vinyl & digital print & it worked w...

Re: Question about adding tree leaf texture
Jan Vanderlinden Thank you for your input but unfortunately the tree "is" there logo so that can't change they jsut want a sign identical to there logo. I've showed them a virutal image on how color would look and the owner still wants to stay natural. Additionally I wanted to do a live edge since t...

Question about adding tree leaf texture
I have a person who want's me to carve their logo and make the tree with a relief. Currently I'm looking at using the pebble texture for the tree. Looking for any other suggestions. The tree carving will be 30 x 30 so the tree top itself will be about 18 x15. I'm using a bark texture for the trunk. ...

Wood for boat sign recommendations
Thank you guys for the post. I have worked with HDU and I believe I have the skill to create a wood grain texture. Not so sure on the painting skills. What do use to back up the HDU with? Marine Plywood? Would you still use a quality marine SPAR varnish top coat. I have a call from the customer toda...

Wood for boat sign recommendations
I've been commissioned to carve and paint a number of sign for a tug/tow boat in Miami. I'm a great lakes guy. They want a natural wood with carved and painted letters. I know woods like teak have oils so paint won't hold up. I'm thinking white oak but maybe others have a better recommendation. The ...

Re: How to fabricate MDF, sheetmetal, hardwood veneer sandwic
I should have been specific on the veneer. I have whole sale factory veneer from without a backing. I purchased a sizable amount 10 years ago. it was dry then and dry now but it is 8 to 16 inches wide by 96 to 108 inches long. Most stacks of each species of wood are matched sets so I can book match ...

How to fabricate MDF, sheetmetal, hardwood veneer sandwich?
I need to glue flat 26 gage sheetmetal to a 1/2 " mdf base and then glue hardwood veneer to the steel sheeting. This will be done on multiple blocks the largest being 48x30. I'm thinking some type of epoxy with 30 or 60 minute open time. I will clamp with a second MDF sheet on top of the metal or ve...
