Re: Estimated Cut times for tapered ball nose seem to be off

I found the problem. When setting up the tool I must have used the default cutting depth of .0032" which resulted in 19 passes. Now it is getting reasonable cutting times.

Estimated Cut times for tapered ball nose seem to be off

I am carving text, pocket toolpath with a .05” cutting depth. Using ¼” & 1/8” end mills plus the final cut using a 30 degree v-bit. The estimated cut time for the v-bit is 4 minutes. If I switch the v-bit for a 1/16” 5.6 degree tapered ball nose the estimated cut time is 2 hours 48 minutes. It looks...

Re: STL file for comfort bird

Steve,
That is exactly what I was thinking. Interested in the file. I have Aspire 11.5.

Re: STL file for comfort bird

yes thanks. That was the one I found on the portal. Fyi, that one took about 1hr to carve with 1/8" bits. If you use 1/4" bits - 30 minutes.

Re: STL file for comfort bird

You are correct. I am trying to use Milo Scotts continuous turning round method on my 4th axis to speed up the carving process. My woodworking guild is planning on making 500 to give away. I will be able to use the one from the portal.

thanks again,

Re: Rotating selected objects

I was thinking more the way the arrow keys work with a selected object. Where I don't know the angle and want to align it with an object I copied when tracing. The further in you zoom the smaller the rotation would be, even down to fractions of a degree. for example in the attached photo, when you s...

Rotating selected objects

When an object is selected you can move it inclemently with the arrow keys. Is there a way to increment the rotation when it is selected?
