Tiki Time!

Inspired by the 2021 UGM, I grabbed a redwood 2x4 and headed to the rotary. Purchased a Tiki theme pack from Etsy, modified for my tastes, and voila! Two sided depending on mood. Finished with two coats of Tung oil which was a great finish to the Redwood. Going on the back deck :D

Re: 3D Rose bouquet

Best bet (from 4 generations of wisdom): Present flowers for NO REASON AT ALL - because it's Tuesday, because I love you, because, well, heck, your pa gave me his blessing that I could marry you (maybe my mother in law should get some occasionally?), because ANY reason...and the best reason of all: ...

Re: Zank Inlay—Monarch caterpillar tray finished

The measure of a craftsman is not that he makes no mistakes, but learns to recover from them. And you sir, caterpillar to butterfly, have learned exquisitely. Really, the knowledge shared herein plus the results are a benefit to us all - and your fine recipient I am sure agrees. We all thank you for...

Awesome. We have multiple "hiker chic's" from our Scout Troop and they rock! (and climb, shoot, paddle and whatever else with the adult "boys" because they are equally or more than capable)

This is awesome!

Re: Biggs Contracting Sign

Cherry? So these days that's about $8k. <g>

I am most impressed with the green coloring on top of the letters. Did you pre-paint and then carve down? If so, no paint chipping?

Finally - exterior grade/purpose? How did you protect it?

Thank you for sharing

Re: Custom Adirondak type chair

I also started with Norm's chair and built a number of these with special modifications. In a great collection of circumstances, my high school English teacher noted that he loved reading outside in his chair, but it was too low and he needed a crane to get out...that sent me to the internet for a s...

Re: Celtic Spoon

Great project. I made one of these for my mom. She didn't know she was a "spoon hanging" type lady or that it would go in her kitchen...but her baby boy (of 54 years) made it so I'll hang it up. Got lots of compliments...now wants more!

So yes, this is a good project, but watch out for follow-up! <g>

Re: Panel for deck re-do

He shoots, he SCORES! The only tragedy here is that not enough people will see it...then again, it is kind of a secret you can share with your co-conspirator/creator and that's cool. Seriously, finding little places we can dress up in the yard is a great adventure. This needed about a 4+ effort and ...

So I packed it in my bag and took it on a recent flight to Rio ... any guesses on the effect on spin?

That was fun to watch the passengers get confounded in the back <g>

Re: What Time is it?

I forgot to mention the inspiration for the visible gears in the clock. This was a present for my kid who just graduated from Purdue (Go Boilermakers!) with degrees in network engineering and security - I will NEVER have to worry about my internet - but I digress. My kid was lucky enough to land a j...

Right attitude. That's how we figure out if we can do something or not: challenge accepted!
