Issue with pockets
Attached is a screenshot of a problem I've been having with pockets. I want to pocket this elongated slot with a 1/4" tool and the slot is 1/4" wide, both .25000 on the dot. Does vcarve not like exact size pockets? I've tried it with other tools. Also one other thing I noticed is vcarve previews wit...

Re: a note on nesting
Yeah I agree, Tony touched on it quite a bit in his videos. If you only have a few parts or a couple large ones it might be better to manually nest them. It sounds counterproductive but the truth is the nesting feature in any CAM software really shines with small parts and lots of them. When you hav...

Re: how to install vcarvepro onto a USB drive/external HD?
Mojopac looks promising but doesn't work on Vista. Thanks for the suggestions though thus far.

how to install vcarvepro onto a USB drive/external HD?
I have a passport (western digital) 250GB USB drive, was wondering if anyone knew how to run the program from the drive. I thought that if you install it on that drive you can run it anywhere with that drive plugged in. Making it convenient to be able to program up some stuff while having free time ...

Re: nesting in Aspire ?
A solid nesting module/plugin feature for vcarve will truely make vcarve more marketable to a wider range of people. I'm looking forward to it. Although I think to truely capture the crowd looking to do nested cabinet parts you would also need to incorporate some kind of feature that would allow you...

Re: Gallery Of Machines
It's a contour shuttle pro, they use them to edit movies mostly but mach3 was kind enough to support the plugin to make it programmable, you can set any function/macro/script to any key on it. The wheel in the middle is a jog wheel. I got mine on ebay for about $40. Search the cnczone or machsupport...

Re: problem with some parts in vcarve
And to top it off I just booted vcarve up again to check my tool settings and what do you know, the tool database is cleaned out (all my tool info) after I just spent time resetting them all up. It's just restored back to the default tool database. Yet if I go into my latest program and edit the too...

Re: problem with some parts in vcarve
Recut tonight with mach3 arcs atc gcode post as usual (this is the PP I have been using since I have been using vcarve and mach3, probably more than 2 years now) and it ran the same. Also note in the pics its just a random pocket path, also check out those stepdown marks and how it cut those sharp c...

Re: problem with some parts in vcarve
Interesting, the only differences I see Joe are these..
CV dist tolerance (1 units)
G100 Adaptive NurbsCV
Copy G54 from G59.253 on startup
Also you have persistent DROs unchecked. Maybe I best post this on the mach3 forum, some of those CV settings I haven't a clue what they mean/do.

Re: problem with some parts in vcarve
Thanks for the help. I'm running Mach3. Good thing you don't see anything wrong with the vcarve file either. I have to admit I haven't used this Gcode post before so that could be the culprit; it was a recommendation to me but it seemed to run fine until it hit those areas. interestingly enough in M...

problem with some parts in vcarve
This is a first for me. I'm having issues with the way the toolpaths are cutting. It's two part, one that the pockets aren't complete and they are cut weird and all the same way. Second there are knicks or bumps at the end of each corner, like it took almost 1/16" about 1" long off the edge of each ...

Re: Zero at corner of material every time.
Yeah this tool is really only needed to initially setup the XY axis, the touch plate for the Z. Without automatic tool changing and ATC collets on a machine like the Joes 4x4 Hybrid (in joes video) it is necessary. And boy do these things speed up the process! Typically if you post to mach3 ATC from...
