Re: Airplane - Our largest cut file to date

We designed and built this project in about 2 months. ...But we were working very hard.

Airplane - Our largest cut file to date

This airplane we recently finished is the largest file we've sliced in Aspire for cutting on our Shopbot.
A fun project, but took some time and patience for sure.

Here is a video of the other work we did, all of the CNC work was done with Aspire.

Bringing out the big guns

Here is a photo prop we finished up recently. As usual, mostly foam.

Mr Fredricksen (UP) Body

We needed to make a "stand" or "Base" to mount our costume head on when not in use. I of course overcomplicated this simple idea and made the base resemble Mr Fredricksen's body. So now it's actually a bit of a statue. We used aspire to clean up the model I had sculpted, then sliced it and setup too...

Re: Stl size limit into aspire

I have had trouble with stl's the size of 90 mb or so and try to keep my import under 30-40mb. A trick I use is found on the Shapeways website. It will change the resolution of your model, but depending on the bit size, it will likely not change your finished cut. It uses a free software called Mesh...

Re: Valentine's Day Card - 60 Minute Challenge

The material is EPS (styrofoam). VCarve toolpath in Aspire made short work of digging into foam, you can cut it pretty fast.

Valentine's Day Card - 60 Minute Challenge

This was actually a lot of fun. I thought about it on the way to work, and pulled it off in under 1 hour.

Re: 3D Sign prototype

Beautiful work. I'm always too nervous to try this. Every time I've attempted to take it on, it is on a sign or project that has just way too many vectors to keep track of.

I completely agree with both of the above comments about 2D toolpaths.

Tree Faces

I have not been in the forums for a little while, but I have a good excuse. I've been busy building parade floats! This was a fun project, as we were able to utilize most of our in house technology to produce the floats this year. The client provided pictures of some of their elderly basket weavers,...
