Re: 3d profile finish path not going through material

It does, and it is the same process I use for cutting the part, my issue was with the ball nose running right off the edge of the pattern and then down the perimeter. I was able to finally get it to work by setting the vector boundary to .07, this stopped it from running over the edge but it stopped...

Re: 3d profile finish path not going through material

I'm not using the 3d to do the cutout, the parts were actually already cut out using a profile as you suggested, the first time I tried to run the 3d program the bit stopped short of the outer edge. I was using a .5inch ball nose and the bit stopped what appeared to be where the outside edge of the ...

3d profile finish path not going through material

I'm running a pattern on Aspire that is using a vector boundary around a 3d solid and the toolpath will not cut all the way through the material on the outer perimeter. Its seems to be acting as though the vector boundary is stopping the bit from going out past the outer edge of the shape and down t...

Re: 3D model Vector boundary issue

It may be part of the model, but its not supposed to be, the edge you can see in the screen shot is what an exploded view of the edge of the model looks like, it is supposed to be a gradual curve with a Compound surface. The model is supplied to me out of Rhino so I can't do anything with the model,...

3D model Vector boundary issue

I'm having an issue with the vector boundary and the 3d model having a gap in certain spots that is allowing the bit to try and drop down into the void creating dimple patterns on the outer edge. I have attached a screen shot of the vector boundary and the 3d model so you can see where the dimple pa...

Re: 3d Profile cutting of "AIR"

Well now I'm having exactly the same problem I had last time I had to make one of these. When I generate the boundary it creates a nice smooth arc, but the 3d pattern is made up of may jagged edges which don't completely fill in the gap between the boundary and the 3d model. This results in the bit ...

Re: 3d Profile cutting of "AIR"

Looks like I just answered my own question, just tried selecting both the outer and inner vector and it does indeed only cut the area in between.
Thanks

Re: 3d Profile cutting of "AIR"

Thats what I thought, but in essence I want to create both an external and Internal boundary, Can I select two boundry vectors?

3d Profile cutting of "AIR"

I'm new to the Aspire program and I have a project I'm working on that I need to shorten the run time on. The easiest way to describe it would be a rectangular shaped object 2 inches thick that has a half inch wide perimeter section that is raised about half inch from the middle area. I cut a pocket...

Re: 3d toolpath and outer profile

I meant upload the STL file that I was given to work with.
Even a gut check that says this should take 6 hours vs 26 hours.

Re: 3d toolpath and outer profile

If I uploaded the file could you look at it and let me know what an expected machine time should be, I got the boundary vector to work as you described but its still roughing in the 20 something hours. One of the issues is this is creating allot of sawdust, the part is 9 inches thick but only becaus...

3d toolpath and outer profile

I've been given a project with an extemely tight time frame and I'm trying to figure out the best way to do this. I currently have cut 3D and have had an issue with the toolpath trying to do both the inner and outer edges which takes forever. The outer is nothing more than a profile cut. I thought m...

Re: 3D cutout edges aren't smooth???

Thanks for letting me know about the overlay process, I've got VCarve Pro so I'll do some research on how to do that.
