Re: choosepixelformat

Well, I kinda figured it out! When I go to load a model, in the file selection window. If I have it set for Icons, it will get the error. If I have it set to just show Details, it seems to load the file fine. <snip> I know this is an old thread, but the advice above just fixed (avoided/hid) the cra...

Re: Gorilla Head

Thank you for the info on the wood and finish. I've carved with a 1/8th" ball nose bit and gotten away with no sanding…but I was carving clear pine. I'll have to try some Cherry as well.

Re: E Pluribus Unum box

I know it's been said already, but the hinges are cool enough to warrant yet another big-thumbs-up on 'em! Very clever and well done! The whole piece is nice, but the hinges truly rock.

"Pirate Cave" sign for a 5 yr old

One of my nephews currently has a 5 yr old son and a 3 yr old daughter. They're expecting a second daughter any day now so the son has been moved into the smaller bedroom his sister used to have (so the two girls can share the larger bedroom he used to have). 5 years old seems kind of young to exper...

Re: Vectric User Group Meeting 2013 Announced

Got home today from my first User Group meeting. I wasn't sure what to expect...but now that it's over, I'm very happy that I was there! I picked up a bunch of new techniques and managed to apply one of them the first night to solve a problem I'd been struggling with (editing a piece of existing 3D ...

Re: Vectric User Group Meeting 2013 Announced

I was able to get a room in the reserved block at the Embassy Suites when I called last week. They only had rooms with two twin beds left but it's a pretty decent price (and I'm going solo so bed size isn't critical). There was also still room in the User Group Meeting itself when I registered while...

Re: Previewing problem

James, Thank you for the quick response. I was concerned that there was something wrong with my setup since the HP is brand new - bought specifically to keep my new Desktop ShopBot company. As a long-time, hard core Mac person (retired after working there for over two decades, so yeah, I'm probably ...

Previewing problem

I purchased Aspire after the recent AWFS show and I'm working through the tutorials. I noticed that previewing seems to vanish unless I have the "Display Preview" tool in the Toolpaths tab in-use. That doesn't match what's shown in the tutorial (perhaps this is due to a minor change in Aspire 4?) I'...

Re: A simple way to make inlays

Superglue didn't help…even when I was only cutting .025 deep (might've been .05 but either way, it was a light cut and still shredded). I've made more changes to my drawing based on a bunch of trial and error. Heading back to the shop in a little while in hopes of finally getting it to work without ...
