Finish Machining always opens with 1/8" Ballnose
I am running Aspire 12 on a Mac with Parallels and Win 11. Whenever I open Finish Machining it always opens with the 1/8" Ballnose regardless of the last used tool. I have not even used an 1/8" Ballnose since upgrading and it has been years maybe since last using one. What do I need to do to avoid m...

Re: NextWave's Chess pieces on a 4th axis rotary
I would expect that, for chess pieces, both sides are the same. Open it in Aspire and save one side as an STL and choose to save the file by flipping the piece for the back (i can't remember the actual terminology and am not at my design computer) but this will save a full model which can then be im...

Re: Why would we want to make dovetails
That is what i was trying to get at. The real skill and craftsmanship is in getting the mental image into a real object but too often we have a very circumscribed view of things. Frank Lyon Wright once observed that if you viewed a room as the four walls you always end up with a rectangular room but...

Re: Spiral rewind
I have a Scott Worden/Gary Campbell Centroid Control Box and the command Gary described is great.I have modified my pp so that it executes that command at the start and end of each tool path. I don't always need it but for the times when I need to start at B0 or remove and reposition a piece I know ...

Re: Why would we want to make dovetails
I am not wedded to the curvy joint but expansion should be no more an issue than in dovetails, i.e. both pieces will expand across their widths. The longer I have built furniture the less I am concerned with technique and the more I am concerned with design. The idea of showing off your hand skills ...

Why would we want to make dovetails
Having been a Furniture Maker for almost 50 years, I have never understood the fascination with dovetails. This was a utilitarian joint in the 18th century which used their existing technology and adhesives and wasn’t made visible except on drawer sides. It just held things together. With the techno...

Re: PVC for spoil board
I used it for a bit on a 4X8 bed. I made 4 - 2X4 pieces and tried to allow for expansion but the stuff moves around too much and I found it unacceptable. I finally bit the bullet for a Phenolic table. The curse words are greatly reduced.

Re: Two separate questions: copy/pasting and rotating
You can click on the rectangle to place it in move mode and then click on a corner or any point on the rectangle and and drag the rectangle by that point to any other point and by holding down the control key while doing this you can drag a copy to any point you choose. I think that this is what you...

Re: Any thoughts on inlay on a curved surface?
You cannot make a v carve inlay on curved surfaces because of the geometry. Windows 10 (2) printed document-1.jpg . The bit is attacking perpendicular to the table surface and distinctly not perpendicular to the arc> Because of that the the finished angle will be off. Even if this were not so the in...

Re: Where did this come from?
I know where the help files are but since this is not a "selected tool" from a menu the "?" does not help and I have no idea of the name to search for. I have looked through the "Help Contents".
