upgrade confusion

I'm currently using VCP v8.5 and I'm thinking about upgrading.. Last time I looked at this (was for the v10 upgrade), it said something about a free design and make project plus discounts on other models/projects if purchased at the same time I purchase the upgrade.. But it was worded confusingly (a...

Re: Semi OT - rabbet bits for 23/32 plywood

I 'think' this is what I need! SAE Rabbet bit ($42) https://www.toolstoday.com/v-6178-49340.html?glCountry=US&glCurrency=USD&ne_ppc_id=229790000&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIsNWytNjm3gIVlh-tBh2vdQu-EAQYBCABEgLcPvD_BwE&fbclid=IwAR3Zgwjaz0GLUopmTs0lVjr2CTU12cCEApfGWNRiUJNFHSCP3mfjun1HgCE 18mm Rabbet Bit ($37) ht...

Re: Semi OT - rabbet bits for 23/32 plywood

Okay, the 18mm will work (it's only .009" bigger).. Tools Today tool sells an Amana collar set for metric sizes.. I'd have to call them to find out for sure, but I think I'd have to buy their SAE sized bit/collar set (like $80-90) and then their metric collar set for it ($30-35) Kinda pricey, but mi...

Re: Semi OT - rabbet bits for 23/32 plywood

Use a 3/4" (24/32") bit and use a 1/32" spacer to stand it off resulting in a 23/32" cut? Use an 18mm rabbet bit and call it close? I'm not understanding the spacer idea, especially since I need a slightly 'smaller' bearing... But the idea that there would be a metric equivalent is something I hadn...

Re: Semi OT - rabbet bits for 23/32 plywood

Why the need for the follower bearing if you're using in the CNC? I have a couple of bearing-less versions that I frequently used on the router table or handheld router (against a guide fence) that now get used primarily in my CNC. They are: Freud 16-116 CMT 811-682 Presumably, from the attached, W...

Semi OT - rabbet bits for 23/32 plywood

Anyone know where to get a rabbet bit (with the cam follower bearing) that cuts 23/32"w rabbets for plywood? I can only find them in full sizes (1/4, 3/8, 1/2, 3/4, etc.), but plywood is pretty much all 23/32" these days.. I could use my CNC for precision rabbets, which I have been doing up until no...

Looking for Circle of Fifths artwork

Want to create something kinda nice and fancy, yet easily readable, that can be used for reference in the studio, and also possibly for sale at local craft fairs, etc.. Something that could also be used to make clocks as well... So, I'm looking for some nice artwork to be used in VCP.. Prefer a clea...

Re: What is the best way to sand a 3d/textured piece?

I buy cheap miniature wire brushes from Harbor Freight with brass bristles.. Works pretty good...

They're toothbrush sized..

Re: Need to invert a dish model

LMAO! Question, if I tried it in Australia, would I need a router that runs opposite? There's a lot of good info in that tutorial! I didn't know about the mixing modes... That opens a lot of possibilities.... Also, the bit about moving the gray scale to the back.. That's been a PITA for me.. Now I k...

Need to invert a dish model

Did a search looking for how to invert a dish so that it cuts concave and not convex (as imported), came up empty..

Could swear I've seen this discussed before... Basically, want to cut a concave bowl with a 3D model in the center..

How is it done (VCP 8.0)?

Re: Anyone ever engraved this stuff?

I can't use a limit switch like that as my touch plate for the Auto (or semi auto, in reality) tool change function is below table height.. and then I would hit the limit every time I did a tool change... Mostly, I just gotta keep my brain engaged.. Mainly it was an issue of not using the table much...

Re: Anyone ever engraved this stuff?

Okay, did the project.. I screwed up during set up and completely destroyed the engraving bit by doing a manual move without brain engaged and put a minus sing in front of the move, jammed it right into the table, then panicked and instead of running the router back up I did an X move and ran it and...
