I have at least 2000 hrs in it already so I'm guessing another couple hundred or so - but I'm just a slow hobby machinist.

Re: Noise on model edge
It is for a model designed by http://www.agelessengines.com. It is a running model but it is not modeled after any particular engine. It is not flyable. I'm about 85% complete.

Re: Noise on model edge
Just a followup on my modeling success after adjusting the resolution. I have attached some pics of the rear adapter plate I was trying to model for my 9 cylinder radial engine. Every thing you see was created in Aspire, either drawn in 2d or modeled in 3D. This includes the red distributor cap. Mac...

Re: Noise on model edge
Martin54, Thank you so much for your suggestion. I was running at 7X resolution but following your suggestion I switched to 50X resolution ( I had totally forgotten 50x even existed ) and it worked. I now get tool paths that are sharp and no edge divots. After spending 2 frustrating days it be somet...

Re: Noise on model edge
Mike-S,
Thanks for taking the time to look at my issue. The model is set to the top of the material as you suggested. I still get the same bad results as shown/described. Wish i could upload the file but it is too large.

Re: Noise on model edge
Adrian,
Thanks for the suggestion - I added a zero plane as you suggested and I'm still getting similar results. I watched a couple of dished tutorials but haven't found the solution.

Noise on model edge
First off - I'm relatively new at doing modeling. I'm trying to do a simple two rail sweep and create a 1/2 cone shape with a radiused front edge. No problem in the creation but I'm having a lots of creating a correct tool path. I'm using a 1/4" ball end mill to as my tool for the path. I cant seem ...

Re: Chamfer Radius Gadget - New Gadget
Dave,
You can use either flat bottom or ball end mill. If you wan a smooth radius you use a ball end mill. A flat bottom mill will leave a stepped effect. Most people probably use the ball end mill.

Re: Contoured look
Nick,
My chamfer gadget is different from the standard chamfer gadget. Mine enables you to chose either inside or outside closed vectors as the path. You can download it here.

Re: radius outside edge of model
Jack,
The gadget is basically only works on contours/vectors. So I believe it will work for you. Very simple to try and you can always delete the gadget if it doesn't do the job. Let me know if it works for you.
