Re: SLDPRT file for Cut3D
No I don't have Solid Works, I have AutoCad. I was given the file as a SLDPRT and told to download E drawings and open the file in it, which I did. In E drawings it shows it as a 3D Carve top, but when saved as a SLT file (as I was instructed) it opens in Cut3D but as a flat object? If I emailed you...

SLDPRT file for Cut3D
I have a SLDPRT file for a Les Paul Carve top that I want to create tool paths in Cut3D, I tried to save it as an STL file using E drawing but when it loads in Cut3D it is flat, any ideas? Thanks in advance, cheers Paul.

Yes Bill, that is exactly what I want to do, I am still very new to CNC software, so be gentle with me, Cheers Paul.

Is it possible to create a fingerboard in Aspire?
At the moment I do my fret slots, dot markers and cutout etc of my finger boards using Cut2D, I also have Cut3D and access to a friends Aspire, is it possible to make a 3D file in Aspire and create the tool paths in Cut3D? If so how do I go about it? Thanks in advance, cheers Paul.

Re: DXF file will not open in Cut2D?
Thanks Adrian
How do I select all the small holes at once? That is where I am getting stuck, if I select one vector then select another the first one "un-selects?" If that makes sense. Cheers Paul.

Re: DXF file will not open in Cut2D?
Is there a way to create toolpaths for the file that Mark altered for me (VS_LURE_01.dxf) for all 336 of them with out doing them individually? What I would like to do in this order is, drill tool path (for the 3 small holes) with a 1mm end mill, then create a pocket tool path (for the 4 larger hole...

Re: DXF file will not open in Cut2D?
"Hope this helps?" You bet it helps :D , thanks a lot guys. One thing I should have thought of though, is how can I put a small tab on the front of each of these to stop them hitting the cutter after the outside cut? I am sorry if this is all basic stuff or I have gone about it all wrong, it is a ve...

Re: DXF file will not open in Cut2D?
Ok I have saved the file as an dxf R12 and now Cut2D is telling me "Insufficient memory available to perform operation" Can I assume that Cut2D is not going to allow me to make a G Code to machine these parts? File attached. If that is the case what CAM software do I need? Cheers Paul

DXF file will not open in Cut2D?
G'day Guys
Newbie at this stuff, I have had some parts I need to cut on my cnc router put into a dxf file, but Cut2D won't open it? It just keeps saying "Failed to open" The file was created in AutoCad, any ideas? Cheers Paul.

Re: VCarve Pro
Thanks Guys and Gals for your replies, I guess since I do want to shape necks and do body contours and carve tops then Vcarve Pro is not for me, I will have to save my pennies and buy Aspire. I am able to get hold of some CAD guitar files, if I just purchased Cut3D to start with would this get me cu...

Re: VCarve Pro
Thanks Kim, Do you think that VCarve Prowould be suitable? Aspire is a lot of coin for someone who has never used a CAD program to buy first up. I will be doing carve top guitars, my initial thoughts are that VCarve Pro would not be suitable but I would like to hear thoughts from someone who knows. ...
