Import a 3D model, twiddle in the import to get a side view with a few degrees rotation to get the face and then use the embossing tool to level it out.
Isn't the key to that getting a 3d model in the 1st place ?

Re: Thomas the Train

I found the same last year when I had a request from a little short guy. I thought I was just not seeing how to convert a 3D printable model into something Vectric could process and ran out of time. Here's a typical example: https://www.turbosquid.com/3d-models/3d-thomas-tank-engine-wooden/523910 J...

Re: Laser + CNC

For someone that hasn’t done much painting, you did a beautiful job. Looks like something to be proud of to me. Thanks Steve, I would classify is as "Ok", would really like to see someone who knows what they are doing work some magic on one of these. I think my biggest downfall is blending, colors ...

Same as everything else.
Put the hours in.
You're getting the fruits from your efforts so keep at it.

Yeah you got that right, we are all guilty of trying to find the easy way, but its best in the long run not to look too hard for it

Re: Any AI masterpieces ?

Very impressive. Thanks, the detail in these really are astounding, especially considering the only materials are white plexiglas & black paint. I got guys on laser forums begging me to do a tutorial but I'm going to pass on that, they can figure it out just like I did. Most of it, like CNC,...

Re: Any AI masterpieces ?

Tried on 1/8 plexi instead of 1/4, I like the 1/4 better because 1/8 actually lets in too much light when backlit, making it a bit washed out looking. Here I am just holding it to my monitor for a little backlight, which accounts for my thumb in the pic. Sorry these are always sideways btw, pretty a...

Re: 3D Carving Times

Lots of variables as others have pointed out, 2 things you can do real quick to minimize time: * Use the largest bit possible to get the detail you want. If you use a 1/32 TBN, that will take alot more time than a 1/16. Alot of that depends on the size of the model, you for instance might get away w...

Re: Any AI masterpieces ?

This guy has a pretty good tutorial turning an AI generated image into a stl, uses aspire too, I have had limited success so far AI CNC ZoeDepth, shallow relief from AI images https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H6GvUdONkFI I've looked at ZoeDepth and it seems to be very powerful. My dig against it is ...

Re: Any AI masterpieces ?

I don't have Aspire, so my results are somewhat limited. Here is my first attemtp FWIW. I just carved it in pink foam and sprayed it grey. Fun, but certainly no "masterpiece". :D So that is a AI generated image carved on cnc ? Not bad, I experimented with foam early on, results were great but it wa...

Re: Any AI masterpieces ?

Still on a roll with these things, I am going to standardize the size and make corian bases for them, maybe encase some in clear epoxy, perhaps backlight others.

Re: Any AI masterpieces ?

Ok this is nuts, never knew this stuff existed but I ran into this rainbow scratch paper and I thought hmm, wonder if my laser would scratch it ? So I started off with 5% power, figured it wouldn't take much for my 80w fiber laser to burn through paper, but I ended up jacking it up to about 20% - Ot...
