Re: Clean router Edges (Mirror Edge)

Martin, that is excellent advice. I take the promise (from customers) of great wealth and ton's of work -with a tongue in cheek attitude. Although, I do like your livery idea. Typically, I try to cover my development costs, equipment costs, and a small profit up front. As far as the discussion is co...

Re: Clean router Edges (Mirror Edge)

Looks like you guys may be right. The customer delivered the material. It looked like a phenol base plastic to me. In reality, it is High-density polyethylene (HDPE) or polyethylene high-density (PEHD) is a polyethylene thermoplastic made from petroleum. With a melting point in the range 120 to 180 ...

Re: How to design Fur

I would like to update the post and close out the post. First of all, I want to thank everyone for sharing their ideas. So I could get paid and deliver the project to the customer -- I took the following Steps: 1. I created an STL object which imported into Aspire. 2. The software I used to create ...

Re: Clean router Edges (Mirror Edge)

Everything that has been said so far, I definitely agree with. If it was for me, I would either flame edge the acrylic or lightly sand the edges. The carrot is that the customer wants a total of 25 completed projects, which I estimate is equal to 38 4x8 sheets of nested parts. Like all things; cost,...

Clean router Edges (Mirror Edge)

I have a customer that brought me a phenolic/composite, He demanded to have a mirror finish on the edges of all of the cutout parts. I have been playing around with feeds and speeds, drawing resolutions, and depth of cut and I'm still unable to achieve the mirror finish. I have run out of ideas? One...

Iterate through the group and contours in group

Yesterday, I installed the Gadget SDK. In a effort to understand the programing logic of using the Gadget SDK kit. I have tried some of the examples in the pdf. The first concept I wanted to understand was how the lines and contours are structured in Aspire 9.0+. Based on the documentation the key t...

Re: Importing Form Tool from existing projects

Thanks Adrian, I saved the toolpath in the CRV3D file as a toolpath template and then re-imported it to my next project using the same form bit.

It works great.

Thanks

Importing Form Tool from existing projects

I received a drawing with a new form tool included for a custom bit. The friend does not know where he put the drawing of the tool face. Is their any way to export the tool from the file he sent and importing the new form tool in to my 9.0 tool data base.

Re: How to design Fur

Again struggling with the fur; As shown by the enclosed photo, in hand carving -- fur striations are added via cone shaped power tool. By using the sculpting tools or a bit-map is there any way to simulate using cone shaped power tool. I have tried the templates, but I have not been real happy with ...

Re: How to design Fur

Thanks Michael, second set of eyes are always good. I was planning to go back and put in the muscle layer with sculpturing the model. When I went back and tried it, you were correct the model was not deep enough. I have never used the high/low/normal modes, do you have any suggestions? I have been u...

Re: How to design Fur

Thank you Adrian for your reply. I had forgot about Becky's tutorial. As shown below, the challenge that I'm facing is that I'm creating the model from hand drawn vectors and it is difficult to find bitmaps of what I'm building. As shown in the second picture, I want the drawing to be appear to be n...

How to design Fur

With Becky's help at the last user meeting in Orlando, I'm able to design and model atomically correct models from vectors. As shown by the picture below, texturing the model. If you look carefully at Vectric 3d model 57178, the designer did an excellent job of laying the hair down correctly on the ...

Re: 2016 UGM

I know it is early, I would like to see more 3d Carving techniques in the agenda -- this year in Florida UGM. I was not able to go to Las Vegas, but I loved the series of lectures where they started from a picture and finished with a carving. I have been trying to do the same thing with Ridge Back d...
