Re: Problem with Aspire 10.505

Yes it seems to have an issue with pocketing, at least for me. After multiple tries (thought it was something I was doing) I switched back to 10.0 and works fine with no error messages.

Re: Strange glitch when merged components overlap

OK finally sorted this with the helpful advice above, thank you! It came down to the component order in the 'tree'. Baking or grouping didn't seem to have any effect but by juggling the component locations about in a random fashion I was finally able to make the problem disappear. This was an odd on...

Re: Strange glitch when merged components overlap

Thanks Michael,

the file is too big to post here and for some reason I'm unable to DM you... will keep exploring the 'component tree' as you suggest.

Re: Strange glitch when merged components overlap

Thanks Michael, yes seems you are right - if I shift the tie component across various levels the glitch does behave in different ways but doesn't disappear. I'm not knowledgeable enough of the component list intricacies at this point of my Aspire learning curve so the file is probably a bit messy in...

Strange glitch when merged components overlap

Door mid.pdf Seems when two 'merged' components overlap Aspire reverts to 'add' mode? I'm getting this strange effect and so far haven't been able to correct it or create a work-around. Unless maybe by manually filing / sanding off the bump after machining... Effectively I have a model with some st...

Re: Trace Bitmap Help

There are many low cost alternatives to AutoCAD however they tend to have different configurations and layout. Apparently ProgeCAD is almost directly comparable in function and appearance although I've not personally tried it. Trace is very useful for many objects however not intended for things tha...

Hey that is interesting, I cut quite a bit of aluminium composite material and I've always used conventional with great results. Never thought to try climb on this so I'll give it a go next week.

Re: Climb vs conventional...

Yeah, as Adrian says. Generally speaking conventional cut for board products & climb for solid timbers. I find most plywoods work fine on conventional but if it is a big or critical job a couple of test cuts are the way to go.

VCP Feature request - order selection tweaks

I've found the profile 'order selection' option (introduced in v6 I think) to be very helpful indeed and would like to see it extended to other machining functions such as drilling. But I have a simple request to enhance it; in addition to the existing 'left to right' and 'bottom to top' I would lik...

Re: nesting settings

I tend to save two files - just prior to nesting and after (un-nested and nested) to allow me to tinker with the layout later if necessary.

Re: Sanding sealer question.

I believe a 'sanding sealer' has other fillers in it such as talc - helps to give more build, flattens the gloss and makes it easier to sand. Not intended as a topcoat of course.

The advantage of shellac could be the excuse to brew your own er.... ethanol. Moonshine rocks! :D

Gerardo, my apologies I misread the question... HDU is fine, HDF (which is what I was talking about) is most likely not.

Re: CNC Router Noise

As an example I used to cut MDF cabinet doors with a two flute spiral bit (6.35mm dia and pass depth) at 4ipm @18k and the screaming from the bit was loud. Now I do it at 6ipm @12k and I only get a slight squeal when turning a corner. That would be inches per second, not minute right? I run my 2 fl...

Re: HDF for exterior signs?

Where I live it sure wouldn't last. We can't use timber signs at all. In the USA they have an external version of MDF called 'Extira' or similar, perhaps you are thinking of that? I'd be sticking to sign foam (high density expanded polystyrene) or other plastic based product. Aluminium composite pan...
