found the material set up, thank you. and yes am talking about moving from the end of one pass to the start of next pass. am using mach 3. found screen for varying jog speed, but so far have not found rapid movement speeds

2" cuts
with much help from the forum, making the two inch vertical cuts .1" per pass. have cut the time from about 2.5 hours to 16 minutes, and a much cleaner cut. thank you forum contributors. now, how do I change the "safe z" FROM 1.8 to 1 and how do I vary the speed from the end of one pass to the begin...

thanks for all the input. lgm, think I said was using profile, not vcve. glenn, stock is 2X2X25. drew the vector, made 25 copies .03 apart. want to cut 2" deep each pass. don't want to put too much pressure on the cnc by taking too deep a cut. made 25 vectors with the deepest cut being .5 in. rather...

forum picture.jpg Vcarve Error.jpg the image randall sent in was partially correct. same idea but I want multiple arcs as this image,{ just learned how to attach}. first made the cuts from the top with a roughing pass then a finish cut. it took hours and still required sanding, which is why thought...

yes, that is it. and yes, I do have bits that long. was custom furniture builder. never heard of a cnc. all router lots of hand held cutting using jigs. most of the bits I used then, are collecting dust

2" cuts on the side of the stock
I want to make a series of arcs on the side of stock that is 2" thick want to cut the whole 2"s in one pass, obviously very shallow cuts. can't seem to figure out how to make this happen. I've always made z zero at the top. should I make it the bottom? and how to make bit go to - 2 before it begins ...

don't want to be jumped on, but I treat my cnc as one of my many tools, as a professional furniture builder, I know many ways to accomplish the same task, I then choose the best and fastest method. sounds like a router table is your best way to go. ted
