I'm with Steve. I always do it with the polyline tool rather than curve tool. With the changes made to 10.5 you can even draw curves in that tool now by dragging from a point rather than clicking.
That works! Geez, I really should start reading release notes...

Re: Draw sharp corner within the Draw Curve command?

Thanks! I have done the same approach, ie: drawing the object with straight lines, then smoothed them out after and adjusted accordingly. I was kinda hoping that there was a way to do it on the fly while still in the command? (Using either the shift or control key would allow a sharp corner to be ma...

Draw sharp corner within the Draw Curve command?

A little more info on what I'm asking. Say your tracing around an object using the "Draw Curve" command and while tracing, there is a sharp corner within your nicely drawn curves... I tried both shift and control clicking but it wouldn't allow a sharp corner to be made within the draw curve command....

Re: Advice Wanted

I believe this happens when the material is hogged out. The material relaxes and then flexes upwards. When the spindle plunges, it pushes into the work piece and the material will flex downwards. But then the downward pressure stops and starts to transverse sideways, and the material, no longer bein...

Two rail sweep in two sided job?

Hi again! I'm doing a double sided machine job. It's a portal window I have actually made before, but trying to streamline the design process and learn some new things in the process. What I have is the general layout of the portal. I took the largest and smallest circle for the rails, and use the p...

Radius reverts arc to straight line?

Hi all, just ran into this situation. I am using the radius tool to radius a corner. I set it to 0.25" and it was too large, so (with the radius tool) I X'd the newly added radius, and as soon as I did, the new radius (0.25) diapered and the long sloping radius changed into a straight line. I need t...

Re: Ever have one of "THOSE" projects?

Thank you everyone! I'm a retired from the Can Navy as well. Thank you for your service! This here is the first shadow box I ever made. (The one in this post was the second) I must admit, I like making this type of shadow boxes. My next one is for a retired stoker (Marine Engineer) He wants some sor...

Ever have one of "THOSE" projects?

Hi All, I'd just like to share my latest project off the machine. This was a good, but frustrating project. So many things went wrong! This required 4 parts, the ring, a double sided part, the 13 spindles, Plexiglas sheet and the backer board. Problems started right away with this project: - Brushes...

Re: G93 for Rotary LinuxCNC Post Processor

A big Thank you for Greg here! I just got a rotary axis and found out the hard way that it spins so slow! Greg's post has helped me out tremendously! My first (proto-type) rotary part took nearly 3 hours (with a few hiccups along the way) The second one took a 1 hour and 14 mins! (with no hiccups) S...

Thanks! I did a little more tweaking, but baking and smoothing helped a bunch!

Help tweaking ribbon please

Hello,

Could I get some help tweaking out my ribbon please.
I have the basics of it, but just can't seem to hone it down.

Thanks!

Re: Layers within toolpath creation

Yes, that's exactly what I would like.
I can't seem to locate the group box you speak of?
Is it a feature in v10 by chance?

Okay, I found it. It is a feature of v10.
Thank you!

Layers within toolpath creation

I would like to request a new feature. I would like to have a 'layers' like function within the toolpath creation area. The reason for this is when I create a project with multiple parts, ALL toolpaths for ALL parts are listed. It would be great if you could separate your tool paths by the parts bei...

Re: Preview for double sided projects

Thanks! Just what I was looking for.
Shift clicking works for X, Y, Z, but not for ISO.
Pressing 1 or 2 doesn't seem to do anything.

Preview for double sided projects

Now that double sided machining is a thing, is it possible to get preview buttons to flip the image to view the bottom side of the project.
Both in Z and in iso?

Thanks!
