Re: Cribbage Boards:

Sorry George I haven’t been on line much the past few months, I have had a life challenge to deal with. Your boards look very nice. Yes to bottom is a separate from the top and it screws together. With the two different woods I machine the inlay and then pocket the cribbage board to receive the inla...

Re: Project from 2011

Very nice work... you are indeed a pro! I love the Fire logo on the cribbage board, is that your creation or did you buy it somewhere? Where do you get your v-bits? I'm looking for good v-bits for detail work and I'm not having much luck. Jim, Thanks for the kind words. The fireman logo is from Vec...

Re: Project from 2011

Hi Jeff, The plaques are 16" X 10" the letters are .26, the only tip I have is to use a V-bit that comes to a point. So many V-bits if you look close they are not to a sharp point, they are squared at the end. One more thing I do with smaller text I cut them in a couple of passes to depth. This help...

Re: Project from 2011

And a few more these are Humidors and a couple of plaques for a Air Force Staff Sergeant. The plaques hang next to each flag in his office.
There are more when I get some more time I will dig them out.

I hope everyone has a great 2011, and I hope everyone has a even better 2012.

Re: Cribbage Boards:

Christy,

Yes I have had that problem what I do is glue up boards not more than 3.5" to 4" making the best grain matches I can. Than I use sand sealer before the final finish knock on wood I have not had a problem since. My finished boards are 12.5"

Re: Cribbage Boards:

Thanks Buck, Right or wrong this is what I did. Since this was my first time I did a little research on the net. What I did was cut the grove into the wood with a 1/8” bit 3/16” deep this was the border. I brushed sand sealer at the fill areas so the CA glue wouldn’t get into the grain. I then fille...

Aspire 3 Modeling

A big thanks to Vectric staff and Vector Art 3D James B. if it wasn’t for the new tutorials on Aspire 3 I don’t think I would have tried to model these inlays. Both were just pictures and after watching the tutorials James had done they were very nice to do. The Fires Brigade is going to Kuwait, the...
