thank you all for your great info i tried both ways of doing things and i have to say i really like the straight lines and then going back in node edit mode and smoothing nodes and making slight final adjustments it does help keep node count down as well as make a much more accurate trace in my opin...

hmmmn
i just did another test and set the angle to 360 degrees to see what would happen
and it cut the nodes by a ton and did not touch a single critical strait line
so i guess that solves it at least for this one

this is not probably the best example but its all i could get quick if you see the strait line is quite long and is turned into two arcs this happens on slots as well that are at angles in many cases if you look at the top image you will see where the strait lines in four places have been turned to ...
