Re: Scooped chair seat - Maloof style

I did a 2 rail sweep that I like, but I can't figure out how to "roll" the front edge. I am sure it is another 2 rail sweep on top of the first covering the front edge, but I can't find the right profile and combination icon that works. Can someone help me out?

Bit won't square 2 opposite corners of a rectangle

I have noticed that when I try to speed up a pocketing or profiling job, the machine consistently rounds the top right and bottom left corners of a rectangle. I have to slow it down to get a "square" cut. But no matter how fast I go, it always comes to the exact corner of the top left & bottom right...

Re: 3D carving on round stock without rotary axis

Since it is going to be a while before I can "finish" the ring, I thought I'd at least post what I have so far. I ruined the first by a wrong move with the larger hole drill. But I'm getting there. thanks.

Re: 3D carving on round stock without rotary axis

I guess I was trying to make it too difficult...... I milled it last night & it came out great. Thanks for your help.

Re: 3D carving on round stock without rotary axis

I'd like to think I know what I'm doing, but clearly, I have missed the point somewhere. I imported the skull and discarded the back material. Then I created a half-round component with a 2 rail sweep. I set the skull inside the stock material. But I can't seem to select the right component/areas/or...

3D carving on round stock without rotary axis

I am trying to make a ring for my son out of solid brass round stock 1.5" diameter. I don't have a rotary axis on my mini mill and am trying to figure a way to carve a skull on the curved side and then set it on end for the ring hole. I could tell the machine it is 1.5" flat stock, but that would be...

Re: Airfoil - both sides

I did the profile this AM and it turned out great. It is so thin on the edge that you can see through the material left - which is what I wanted (.040"). I hope this can help someone else in the same situation.

Re: Airfoil - both sides

I seem to have answered my own question. I carved the top with ZZero on top of the material. The material setup indicated the gap below would be .3198 inches and the model thickness would be .3802 inches. When I flipped it over for the bottom, it said the profile was .2511 inches and I set the Gap B...

Airfoil - both sides

I'm having problems shaping both sides of an airfoil that is asymmetric. I imported the file with the split into halves option. I machined the top using the top surface of the material as reference. The material thickness is .7 inches thick and the entire part is .6314 inches thick. The top turned o...

Linear V-Bit lines on rotary vase

I would like to make a vase like this on my rotary axis. After I profile the basic shape, how can I make the small V-Bit grooves the length of the curved vase?

Can I modify a 2 Rail Sweep after the fact?

I am trying to modify my Maloof seat. I used 4 different vectors along the rail paths. Is there a way to mark where they are placed along the rails so that I can adjust them after making the profile and sitting in the seat? The vectors seem to disappear once the mold is made - kind of like "baking" ...

Re: Unwrapping train gets really weird

I finally got it by CENTERNG the train before importing the model. After that, I could get it to work every time. I do remember something about if the original is way off in space, then centering it will at least give you some place to start. I guess I will continue centering the objects and try som...

Re: Unwrapping train gets really weird

The result is the same. The video says that unwrapping will ignore the last 2 checkmark options anyway.
