Re: Cut2D Desktop and Laser Module with Emblaser1

The "Grbl (inch)" and Grbl (mm)" post processors both have laser support. What is the exact error message you're getting when trying to save a toolpath from either of the laser toolpaths? I can save a toolpath using both of those post processors with the Laser Cut & Fill toolpath. Using vTransfer s...

Seems to be there in the trial version I have installed:
I missed that. I didn't realise that the alphabetic sort was case sensitive with "Em" appearing quite a way below "EM". I downloaded it but couldn't get it to appear as an option when saving a file.

Re: Cut2D Desktop and Laser Module with Emblaser1

How does that process of selecting the GRBL post-processor differ from what you've done for "seven years" with the old software version? i.e., what post-processor were you using for the old software? I've just spent the morning having another go with the free trial version of Cut2D Desktop. I re-in...

Re: Cut2D Desktop and Laser Module with Emblaser1

Are the problems with Cut2D itself or the laser module? For the laser module you need a post processor that is configured for laser use. Standard ones won't work. I was working with the laser module activated and was using one of the supplied files - the wing form - as a source. I was offered a cho...

Cut2D Desktop and Laser Module with Emblaser1

I've been running my Emblaser1 for the last seven years with the original Cut2D Laser Desktop and VTransfer. I'm considered updating the software and have installed the latest Cut2D Desktop Trial version and tried to see if I could get it to talk to the Emblaser, but with no luck so far. Any suggest...

Re: Selecting the right software version

There is (or was?) a version of Cut2D specifically for laser cutters called Cut2D Laser. I got my copy bundled with my Emblaser cutter a year or two ago and I think I remember the last update to the software was just over a year ago. However, I've just done a Google search and it seems as though Vec...

Re: Using Cut2D for Emblaser1

Hi there, had purchased an Emblaser1 years ago and got Cut2D Desktop with it. Long story short: Recently completely started over setting up the Emblaser1 again and since i use an upgraded PC (i.e. Windows10, new hardware) i purchased the newest version of Cut2D Desktop to do so. Question: I DO have...

Re: Milling area between letters

I would agree with Adrian. I think the two long horizontal lines above and below the letters are confusing the software. I think you have to generate a closed vector for the area between the letters and then select the inner parts of the "B" and the "R" along with the vector for the space between wh...

Re: Cut2D Laser Bug?

Is there a width to the laser the way it's defined in the software though? In the router version of the software inside and outside make sense because bits have width but with a laser I wouldn't have thought it would make sense to do that hence (IMO) why it reverts to on the line. Probably best to ...

Cut2D Laser Bug?

I've been working with the latest V9 of Cut2D Laser and VTransfer and like the upgrades. But there is one niggle with V2 Laser. If you set up and calculate a toolpath to either "Cut Inside" or "Cut Outside", and if you call up this toolpath to edit it, it has defaulted to "Cut On" which can catch yo...

Re: Gcode senders?

Yes, I have a grbl based Shapeoko 3. I also have a Darkly Labs Emblaser that came with Cut2D Laser which has V-Transfer for sending the gcode files. It seems that Cut2D doesn't include V-Transfer so I was wondering what other senders/postprocessors(?) people might be using with Cut2D. I've been wor...

Re: Cut2D Laser V8.5 Questions

Allowance offset is the amount you want to offset the toolpath by from where it would normally cut. Saves you the hassle of creating a new set of vectors and is usually used for tweaking parts that fit together. Probably not needed much on a laser cutter but it's very handy for a router cutter. Adr...

Cut2D Laser V8.5 Questions

I've just downloaded the new V8.5 and I've got one or two questions since the help file doesn't seem to have been updated to cover the new features. I assume that "Kerf Width" is the measured width of the laser beam - (needed for the Cut settings?) What is "Allowance Offset"? The Cut Inside/Outside/...

Re: upgrade with problem

8.5 is a complete new installation not an upgrade as far as I'm aware. That's what I thought when I logged on to the web site with my main PC and read the upgrade details. But when I went to my other PC, which I use for email, and accessed the download page again on the web site, I was offered the ...
