Re: toilet seat
Inlace was purchased from inlacebook.com, and is available from a variety of suppliers. The primary advantage the system has are the colors available. Largely equivalent results can be obtained with other epoxies and colorants. It holds up well, though I do not know about UV tolerance - though the t...

Re: toilet seat
I made an inlaid oak toilet seat. The kids tried to get me to leave the inlace (epoxy like inlay material) out, thinking that the imprint of intertwined ivy leaves would be cute on the rump!

I am awestruck. Nice changes that will challenge my creativity. Have to develop some projects that use the new capability.

Even at 8% stepover, there is some of this on vertical surfaces. For extreme problems, I have done two finishing passes with different patterns. Usually, a few minutes with the flexible shaft grinder eases the irritation.

Re: waste board surfacing
That will certainly do it. I think each of us have developed our own favorite approach. I use a Her-Saf bit with replaceable inserts. It has served me well, especially as I have surfaced many rough cut slabs - many square ft. of oak! More expensive up front, less expensive in the long run. Large dia...

Re: Free file from 3D model club
I'm not sure that the discussion is over yet. As one who attends fairly closely to copyright and intellectual property issues, I'm nervous. I try to differentiate clearly among artwork I have rights to, art with no copyright, and that which belongs to someone - so that I may only use it for my own p...

Re: A few recent projects
Actually the teak cut more easily than I thought it would. Roughed it and cut it out with a .25 upcut spiral cutting .2 deep at about 100 ipm. Finish pass was with a .125 rounded (Actually a rotozip bit with the edges knocked off to make it "round". This is a cheap solution to "Where do I find long ...

Re: A few recent projects
Wes, The rose started out as a 2 inch thick block. Finished thickness is about 1.75 I have to confess that the texture around the horse is largely as the file was purchased (3dmodelclub.com) with a bit of Aspire modification with the sculpt tools. The only tricky part was blending the edges of the c...

Re: Free file from 3D model club
I have also gathered up all their free samples, and purchased 3 or 4 models. The detail is very high and the artistic quality good. Of course resolution is dependant on the overall size you cut, and the size of the bit you use for the finish pass. This is as it is for all models. The detail is avail...

Re: Wanted: Graphic
Those are the bears that captured my attention. The artist and company that did the sculpture is local. While it is good to know who might be able to reverse engineer the graphic, I think I need to be honorable and go to the local folk and talk about rights and that sort of stuff. It is stunning and...

Wanted: Graphic
While walking through NYC the other day I was struck by the wondrous carving of dancing bears on the Russian Tea Room. Has anybody come accross a 3d file that might approximate their logo??
