Re: #D Map of the USA
Just a note on those files, at the scale I made it (about 18" wide) I had to conglomerate some of those little tiny eastern seaboard states, and note the little line marking the upper peninsula of Michigan - I kept that with Wisconsin. In hindsight I would have made some of the Great Lakes in blue t...

Re: #D Map of the USA
Thanks, Martin, completely forgot about the compatibility with V-carve.
Here's the file in that form.

Re: #D Map of the USA
Here's one I made a bit ago, worked well for me. Use offset to create the right gap depending on the size of map you are making.

Re: Resolution revisited
That's it, thanks Michael! I can see a distinct difference in the 3D view.
Wonder why the 2D gray scale of the model wouldn't show the same resolution as in the 3D?
Thanks for your help.

Resolution revisited
I created three blank Aspire files, all identical except I made one with a resolution of Standard (fastest), one at Very High (7X) and the last at Maximum (50X). I drew a 6 inch circle in each and modeled inside the circle a simple flat profile .125" high. I zoomed in as much as I could and measured...

Re: Quick tricks to draw a tangent to a circle.
Mike, I think that is a wrong description of the method. The link below shows the correct method. https://www.mathsisfun.com/geometry/construct-circletangent.html Basically, to draw a line tangent to a circle from a point, draw a line from the point to the center of the circle. Bisect that line and ...

Here's a video of him creating it. Looks like no sheet rock build-up, must be some additives in the mud to avoid the cracking. Talented artist.

Re: M1911 Colt 45, work in progress
ha ha, trigger finger surgery while you're cutting out a gun.
Seriously, is that a big deal to get done? My little finger is curling up for a few years now, thinking about having it looked at.

Grease, was that a shop accident on your hand? Or trigger finger surgery?

Or maybe you cut ON the vector instead of OUTSIDE of the vector...?

Re: Node Editing
Looks like you had some nodes in several spots that were right on top of themselves. Seems like fit to curve tool doesn't like that I've noticed before. Keep zooming in, like to the max, and when you still see nodes close you have a problem. I deleted the extra ones and then the 'fit to curve' worke...

Re: HELP joining vectors!
Zombo, why are you trying to join the vectors? They don't need to be closed for a profile toolpath, only for a vcarve toolpath. If I'm understanding what you want to do correctly.

Re: model height question
You say you want a base height of .625 but the screenshot shows you have entered .60. The final height is additive to your base height, that's why its not giving you a total of .75, if you enter .60 base height and .15 in the final height with the Scale to exact height checked you will end up with a...

Re: Lady in the woods dxf drawing
Looks like it is a result of low resolution photos being traced. I can't find anything on the web more than 720 x 1280, which yields the same results when you trace it, just because the pixels are too big to show the actual shape. Like you say, doesn't really show in the final result, so maybe it do...

Ha ha, my eyesight is not as good as it used to be either. No, can't see them in that. Here's a snip of what I'm seeing on the screen.
