I have scrapped the idea of the wooden cnc machine and found a pre built metal one but that doesnt seem to be upto the job either ( see other posts ) Looks like i need to save the pennies and go for a mechmate not to build myself but by someone in the busines...

Dave: Yes i believe they are aluminium rails dmoore: $15k at the moment isnt an option hopefully down the line i could upgrade. Hi dmoore It'll be mainly used for making furniture and signs out of mdf and metal engraving. Useage will be around 4 - 10 hours on a weekend and for business use. It will be for business but spare time business. My full time job deals with this kind of stuff but its all imported, making them myself will lower costs and be an extra earner for me.

Thanks for all your help guys. I'll look into getting the items punch pressed on any large quanities and perhaps have a play around with smaller numbers and more complex shapes on a cnc.
