Hopefully I can get some help her. I have Endurance 10W+ Laser and running Aspire 10.5 with a Warp9 ESS Smooth Stepper a C11 Rev8 BOB (All 5 inputs are used with limits and homing switches) so I have a C10 plugged directly into the Smooth stepper. Do I need 9.5

So, I have been running with Aspire 4.5 for some time now and was considering upgrade path to 9.5, however on watching the new feature video I quickly learn that 80% or more of the upgrade is focused on 'Wraping' or other 4th dimensional carving. I have used text wrapping once, just to try it but in...

Tapered ball nose cutters

What advantage would I have if I used 1/" tapered ball nose cutters rather than the straight forward 1/8" ball nose. ?
I see that the Tuscan Grape Clock used the tapered cutter.

Thanks

Re: a simple bowl with a mapped model

Are you using any sort of photo editing software for your dog image? If you are then you can make the background transparent BUT when you export the image you need to export it in a file format that supports transparencies such as BMP, Tiff or PNG. If you don't then you wil end up with a white back...

Re: a simple bowl with a mapped model

Sorry Mebel, I saved my dog as a bitmap and imported it in to Aspire, now then how do we create the vectors from the bitmap image ? Ok, I managed to create the vectors and then projected a vcarve onto the bowl, seems ok for now it worked! Quality not as good as yours though. dogmapped1.jpg The fini...

Re: a simple bowl with a mapped model

Here's a picture of what I ended up with, it's not perfect, as I say it's the result of a picture on a square background. It wouldn't be so bad if the background was round

Re: a simple bowl with a mapped model

Thanks all, I had my material setup, set incorrectly. It was 6mm below the surface of the material.

Interestingly enough I do not have zero plane insert in Aspire 4.5

Thanks

a simple bowl with a mapped model

I'm trying to map a model of a dogs head ont a bowl. It's been a long time since I have used my Aspire but I want to get back in to it. My simple bowl is created using a circle and creating a model from a selected vector i.e the circle. When I look at my final image after roughing and smoothing the ...

Export to a Solid model

I would like to export my finished model to a Sold for 3d printing. Exporting to STL merely exports meshes which is of no use to me. Even after creating a component from a toolpath preview and then exporting that I still end up with a Mesh file. Ideally an editable format like step would be good. Ca...
