Re: Vectric UK User Group Meeting 2024 🎉 - Birmingham UK
NewAtThis Not certain I'll be going yet. I may just jump on the train. My eyes are getting dodgy now so not keen on driving in the dark. I'm fine in daylight. I'm ok in the dark but just not keen any more. I used to live in Coventry so I know the way up there but the train is far easier for old gee...

Re: Vectric UK User Group Meeting 2024 🎉 - Birmingham UK
...holding it in the centre of Birmingham? How disappointing. I wonder if Brummies share that opinion about your neck-of-the-woods? 8) From the BBC online: Why does everyone hate Birmingham... even Jane Austen? My "neck of the woods" is nothing like Birmingham, or any other city in the UK, but I do...

I missed the last UK UGM due to illness and was really looking forward to this one, but holding it in the centre of Birmingham?
How disappointing.
I guess I won't be going, after all.

Re: A little bit of tearout...
You guys rock, thank you. I don't mind tedious, if I'm not cutting it by hand and just letting the machine do it! I like the idea of a drag knife. I'll look into that option once I've tested TReischl's idea. Yep, I get that, adze_cnc, thank you. And it is birch plywood. And Yes, it was a pocket tool...

A little bit of tearout...
I've designed a marble maze for my grandchildren, but am getting some tearout, even using a down cut end-mill. The material is birch ply. Here's a photo: IMG_5085.jpeg This appears to be happening only on the top edge of the channel, so my guess is it's the direction the end mill is turning, in rela...

The 16mm diameter ball nose. Is it a unicorn?
I've seen someone on here mention a 16mm diameter ball nose end mill with a 1/4" shank.
Does anyone have such a beast and, if so, where did you get it from, please?
UK, EU or (at a push) US supplier preferred.
Thank you.

Re: Is the Box Creator Gadget...
Well, that wasn't particularly intuitive in the software, but thank you.
The job setup in in metric but the sizing in the Gadget appeared to be in inches (i.e. 24 x 16 x 14), so I guess I made an assumption.
Maybe because it's Sunday morning...
Thank you, gentlemen.

I am also experimenting with a Citrix Virtual Windows system. So far ...

Re: Safe Z
I have a Stepcraft machine (M.1000) with UCCNC and Vectric VCarve. When I used completed Vectric files from my previous machine, I kept getting out of limit errors in the Z axis and, more recently, helped a fellow Stepcraft user with the same issue. The most recent issue was that the guy was using a...
