We have a clone of a clone of a Genmitsu clone (no-one really knows what it is...) and use the generic GRBL post-processor. Try that one first. Use generic GRBL sender on the machine that controls your CNC. Succes !

Re: Help Engraving dots at the beginning/end of letters
I wonder:
Is your source text traced ? And was it the sort of trace that leave double lines instead of a single line ? Check then - for example in InkScape if you have that - the vectors.
just a thought,
Marcel

Re: Considering Vcarve
I also rarely use 3D functionality when 2D (2.5 D?) is sufficient. It's not because I think it's better per sé - it's just easier for me. In your case, I think a 'plain' 2D design would have been good enough, with the depth being taken care of in VCarvePro. And speaking of that: I cannot recommend V...

Re: Disable popups for successful operations?
As a former professional software engineer - and having a degree in social sciences (*): I would be extremely carefull to take away all positive messages / pop-ups per sé, especially as the result of some actions can not be seen immediately on the screen. It is actually good for a user to be confirm...

Re: Importing dxf files from Sketchup
I just tried - but as a VCarvePro user and with a somewhat earlier version of SketchUp, to be honest.
No problems. I exported as .stl and could import the model easily. .dxf is a wrong format for 3D, methinks.

Re: Chip load calculation discrepancy
Beyond all that has been mentioned the difference between 0.0024 and 0.0017 is 0.0007—about 1/6th the thickness of a sheet of paper. Does that matter if you are whacking through wood or wood products? I have to agree with Steven here. We prototype mostly with MDF, a material that already falls apar...

Re: GRBL G Code
We run 2 CNC's, one (the second one we installed) on GRBL. When we installed the second machine we just loaded a second machine profile in VCarvePro as per Vectric intructions. From then on, when saving the toolpaths, we could choose for either one of the machines without any problem. We had slight ...

Re: Chamfer Toolpath for Mitered boxes
Why not do a VCarve toolpath ? Set two parallel lines twice the thickness of your material apart and let your V--bit do the work.

Re: Laser power and speed test file
As a (dedicated) laser user: the circles are indeed too small to test speed. It's hard to say definitely how large they should be, but if you want to test speed efftects I would make the circles a lot larger - say 5 cm. instead of 5 mm.

Re: Can SVG's be uploaded and used in Pro?
I make and import SVG's regularly and rarely have issues other than those I cause myself in badly designing the SVG.
VCarvePro performs well in this issue.
Having said that, I just upgraded InkScape to its newest release ... fingers crossed.

Re: Longs Stepper Motors model 23HS1435
In theory, unpowered stepper motors have ho 'hold' function, so weight could potentially move an axis. But in practice I have never seen it happen, like you did for 10 years. Can you dismount it easily to check any strange wear or damage ?

Re: Circle
To verify whether the harder wood is the problem: just do a test run in plain MDF.
