Re: Collette Nut

I appreciate the feedback. Didn't take it as dissing. Wish I could afford a better machine but it does pretty much what I need it to do. Thanks again. Well, that is a pretty decent machine. I just rebuilt my old machine, essentially an Avid. I built it over ten years ago from CNCRouterParts items (...

Re: Considering Vcarve

For Solidworks you can extract the necessary 2D curves (vectors in Vectric parlance) by making a plan view drawing (.SLDDRW)—use an empty template, not one with information boxes, etc. Then export the result as a DWG file. Beware though that I have found that even if you tell Soldiworks to keep clo...

Re: UCCNC & Rotary Control

HUGE UPDATE !!!! Once again, the Vectric Team rides to the rescue! I received a PM from one of the Vectric staff. In that private message he referred me to a thread over on the UCCNC forum (cncdrive). He said he PM'd cause he was not sure what he found would work. Sooo, I am going to reveal his ide...

Re: UCCNC & Rotary Control

Just thinking out loud and wondering about your steps/unit settings of 33.3333 Assuming a 1.8 degree full step angle and 1:10 reduction, the axis should rotate 0.18 degrees per step. That is 5.55555 steps per degree and means your stepper drive is set up for 6 microsteps/full step. Somewhat unusual...

Re: Longing for the multi-drill head

I'm really glad that the 12th version is out. Hopefully, there has been some development for horizontal and vertical multi-drill units, which are essential for furniture manufacturers like us using industrial CNC machines. It should be a necessity for Vcarve , which is tailor-made for woodworking. ...

Re: Dragon Chess Board

REALLY nice!

I would not "gift" that to anyone. Unless I had a really good friend who played a lot of chess.

Nope, I would look around for a charity that you like who does auctions. Donate it to them. Just my thoughts.

Re: Collette Nut

Ok, this is not meant as a snark, but. . . .

With a machine like that balanced nuts are a waste of good money.

Not dissing your machine, cause ANY cnc machine is better than no cnc machine.

Going around corner noises are pretty normal, so do not sweat it.

Re: Considering Vcarve

I do not use Solidworks, Rhino here. I design everything in Rhino. Love being able to roll a model around in real time. Check how other items fit, etc. A lot of the time the parts are flat, like yours appear to be. I have two choices, I can save the vectors I used to create them. That get messy real...

Re: UCCNC & Rotary Control

Just a bit of information for anyone following this thread. I am not all annoyed over this situation at all. I am annoyed that someone who did not have a clue posted on the internet that the latest version of Vectric would solve this problem, when in fact, it does not. If a person does not know for ...

Re: UCCNC & Rotary Control

Greolt: I was hoping you would weigh in. Thanks. I am sure our setups are a bit different. I included the following screen shots so you can get a look: X Axis X Axis Setup.png A Axis Rotary A Setup.png Notice that the velocity on A is much higher than you mentioned above. If I set 5000 like yours, i...

Re: UCCNC & Rotary Control

Mark, thanks for taking an interest in this "issue". I am using an Avid Wrap Y post processor that I have modified. Essentially removing all the stuff not needed when doing rotary. For instance, highly doubtful I am going to do any helix milling while in rotary. Did some more testing this morning, I...
