There are three colors of wood in that project, not two. You need to design accordingly,

Re: Why would we want to make dovetails
Nope, sorry. Using a CNC machine is not "handcrafting" anything. The most handwork that is done is pushing keys on the keyboard and tightening up clamps. Handcrafted cabinets? Baloney!!! Handcrafted by the cabinet software. Ohhh, they have CARVINGS on them? Yup, downloaded from the internet and plac...

Re: Big Changes Coming
Things are coming along nicely on the refurbishing. I will try to get some pics tomorrow of the progress. Been doing a lot of simple milling work. Making brackets out of 3X3 X 1/4 aluminum angle I picked up at the scrap yard a few years ago. The proximity switches came in so I have them all mounted....

Re: Model import
One of these days I am going to try adding like a 1/16 diameter "rod" to a model to see how the software reacts. I am thinking that will not even help with something like the open space between the fireman's legs. What I would do is try to control it rather than let the software do whatever. Like ma...

Re: 3D Carving Times
Something to be aware of as you venture into carving 3d models. If you double the size of the model, you quadruple the time, that is if you keep the Z height of the model the same. If you double the depth it will take even longer. The reason it takes 4X longer is that double the model size quadruple...

Re: Struggling newbie needs help please
The absolute, positively first thing you MUST do is HOME THE Z AXIS.
If you have not done that, nothing will work correctly for the Z axis.
I hope you have done that.

Re: How to get More Cleaner finish
Looking at the model closely, the ragged appearance is caused by the vertical walls. Typically the models coming out of eastern europe are like that. The surfaces of the model look fine for the most part.
What I might try is using the draft feature followed up by a slight smoothing pass.

Re: Using the 4th axis as an indexer
Just some thoughts and observations. I worked with a Hyperdex indexer eons ago. It could index to .1 degree positions, so 3600. Out of all the years I programmed the machine for the company (they did not have a programmer) I only ever used the four cardinal points, 45, 30 and 135. That was a $30,000...

Nah, no thanks, another bunch of marketing types harvesting emails so they swamp inboxes with their garbage. I do not read anything that requires me to fork over my email address to marketing types. Especially ones who are bold enought to declare they are going to give it to 3rd parties. The picture...

Re: Getting to know my new 1F Elite
All nice work. I pulled the trigger on a OneFinity Woodworker Elite earlier this week. Then I unpulled the trigger. Not because of anything seriously wrong with the machine, but because of the way the spindle mount is integral to the Z axis bearing mounts. A one piece construction. That does not wor...

Re: Pocket Problems
Something to be aware of when climb cutting: The sharpness of the bit will have a drastic effect on the cut. A dull bit attempting to climb cut will attempt to do exactly that, climb up on the material. Conventional cutting does not react as much. Learned that years ago on a milling machine. Instead...

Another Reason I Bought a Laser
Took all of about 15 minutes to design, cut and see if it is going to work or not. Gotta love it.
