Re: G code

IMHO about the only time the typical user needs to know any g code is when the machine is suddenly acting strange. If that happens an average person can figure out how to read the necessary g code in a few minutes once they understand the first bunch of lines is machine configuration and has little ...

Re: Post Processor not working

+1 on learning to read g code. Saves tons of guessing when things go wrong.

It is not complicated when it comes to the motion commands.

Re: Modeling isometric shapes using Aspire

Just to toss something in here. . . . an isometric view of an object is not strictly speaking a "perspective" view. There are no vanishing points and objects are scaled the same on all primary axis. Probably a better term for Isometric is "view" or "view point". Isometric view. Not Isometric perspec...

Re: Chisels

I always have to chuckle when reading threads like this. Has anyone ever paid top dollar for a tool and then say it works only marginally better than one a tenth of the price? But yea, I agree, picking up a top quality tool and using it is very satisfying. So there is that. BTW, woodworking st...

Re: Chisels

I have a set of "Swiss Made" (I believe that is Pfiel?) that I bought about 25 years ago, great chisels, also very pricey. Was doing a lot more handwork in those days so it made sense. Also have an old set of Ace Hardware consisting of three chisels. Butt style. They also work fine. What I do have t...

Re: Random tabs issue

Yanno, these type of issues are easily resolved by just reading the G code file to determine if the Z commands are, in fact, changing the depth. Speculating about the rigidity of the machine, whether the collet is shot, ad nauseam is a waste of time.

Re: issue with toolpaths for 3D objects

Create a closed vector boundary around the areas you want to cut and use those to control the cutting area.

Re: Flattening Bit is Gouging

Those machines are not at all rigid. Not cracking on your machine because any machine is better than no machine at all. A 1 inch diameter bit is mighty big for a machine like that. Try something smaller, yea, I know, it takes longer, but that is what happens with machines lacking rigidity.

Hmmm, did you actually set the Z zero to the machine bed and set it that way in the software?

Re: Looking for Modeler for a 3d image

What do you mean by "turn it into 3d"??? That is a flat pattern.

Hmmm, since you have VCarve Pro this is a perfect time to learn how to use it. How to trace something, pocketing, profiling, etc.
