Re: Rotary - The Puppy

I guess it doesn't matter how long you've been doing things, there's always something new to try. I just did this Labrador as a rotary job an it seems to look pretty good.

Go Anywhere Truck

I guess I was watching too many Alaska TV shows. I saw a picture similar to this so I thought that might be a cool project. I got the truck from Stetchup and saw a picture of the tracks somewhere. I used Aspire and Rhino for the modeling. The tracks are made from Alder then I used a weather-oak stai...

Re: 1930 Packard

Here are a few closeups. The wheel would of turned out better if I used a smaller bit but the smallest I had was a 1mm.

1930 Packard

My granddaughter saw a few of my last antique cars I built, so she asked if I'd make her one. So searching some pictures, I came up with this 1930 Packard. I use mainly used Aspire to model it with a little help using Rhino. Wood is poplar, walnut and padauk.

Re: Finial rotary Optimization

A few ideas to speed things up is change you rounding toolpath. From 1/8 to ¼-inch which speeds things up by 15-minutes Change your roughing toolpath to 50% stepover and feed rate to at least 100 inches/min. , which speed things up another 15-minutes. And I didn’t see a lot a difference using the la...

Bear Carving

Looking for my next project I came across a picture of a carving similar to this one, so I figured that would be an easy job. First I cut of a section of a Bradford Pear trunk that was full of worms I chopped down a few years ago. It made a perfect base and the insect activity gave it a lot a charac...

Re: two sided question

The part you want to double cut, create a vector around it and move it to where you want it. Copy the vector to the other side, Then use the Center Objects on the last selected Object. I'm not all that sure of your question but I hope that answered it.

Re: .stl model - features I don't understand.

When you import the stl model, the box will open and you will determine an overcut distance in the Limit Plane (Zero Plane). The Limit Plane is the bottom of each side. The amount you put will become a negative distance your tool will travel past the Limit Plane. On a double sided job you need to se...

1880’s Steam Engine Tractor:

I saw one of these flash on the TV so I thought that might be a cool project, so I found a few pictures and modeled it in Aspire and Rhino. Size 7” x 18”. Now on to find something new.

Re: Scrap Redwood

Nice carve Randall. With the high cost of lumber right now, I'm using up a lot of my old scrap material.
