Re: Update on Microscope

If the dot size is too large from the lazer have some one machine a cap to snugly fit over the end and drill a .030 hole in it to start with. then enlarge it to suit. Right now the size of the dot is 1.5mm (.050"), which seems very good. If it's a ever a problem, I can re-do the bushing and cap the...

Re: Carving a 3D into foam.

I haven't done too many foam jobs, but when I did, most places, I didn't need a roughing pass. When I did, I used the same ball mill which didn't require resetting the zero position.

Re: Yearning for Purple Heart

I know some people swear they'll turn dark brown or whatever, call me lucky but I have never had that problem, this one I cut almost a decade ago and the purple color is as vibrant as day 1. I did this trunk in 2009. Although it is stored inside, it had hours of exposure to the sunlight whenever I ...

Re: Update on Microscope

After the high cost of my commercial one, I decided to go cheap and bought a $400 one off Amazon. For small detail parts the CNC won't do, they come in handy. I've seen a few Amazon that's even under $200.

Re: Update on Microscope

I finally got my bullet laser. I made and 3D printed a 1/2" sleeve that fits into a 1/2 collet. I think it will work out great

Re: X and O game with toilet paper

LOL, better store those rolls of TP in a safe these days! Yeah, out of the world's population of over 6-billion, 4k people, most with one foot on a banana peel and the other in the grave has died so far from this virus. Heaven help you if you run out of toilet paper...or at least that's the view of...

Re: Update on Microscope

I was planning on 3D printing an adapter that will fit in a 12mm collet, however I'll wait until I measure the outside of the laser before I design it. I did measure the diameter of the dot on a hand laser level that I have in my desk drawer which measured 1.5mm. Even if I eyeball the center of the ...

Re: Update on Microscope

I guess we all run into the same problem. Yesterday I had to restart in the middle of a project and when I recentered, I was off about 1.5mm. My centerpoint was already milled over, so it made things a tougher. So yesterday off Ebay, I order a bullet shaped laser they use to sight in rifles for arou...

Re: power surge

My CNC is 220 volt but I couldn't find a surge protector I could place in line, so I put on the last pole of my electrical breaker panel a whole-house surgebreaker circuit. Bought it at HomeDepot and only took a few minutes to install.

A few years back, I made one of my granddaughters a highchair. Her mother had me paint it high gloss bright white. It turned out very well.

In Modeling, under the component, right click the component and in Combine Mode, select merge. Under the Modeling tab, click the component then select the Crescent Wrench and you can adjust the heights.

Re: tracing an electric guitar diagram

I'm in the process of working on an electric guitar. I found a picture of the dimensions online, brought them into Aspire and converted to vectors. Using Vectric's clipart and along with ZBrush, I'm playing around with a design. Although I still have a TON of work and modeling to do to make the eagl...

Re: Sources for 3D model cars

All depends what you're looking for, making a model or a carving. I've done quite a few models, but my favorite was the 1930 Duesenberg from Forest Street Designs https://www.foreststreetdesigns.com
