Eagle and Fish

Using the wings and body from the Alien and Wolf model, I came up with this one. It stands 21" tall and 16" wide. I used an Aged Bronze Metal coating for the finish.

Alien and Wolf

I was trying to come up with a "different" type of model which ended up with this Alien attacking a wolf. I told my wife that it reminded me of her brother    , which she didn't take as a joke and threaten to throw it away (among other things). I ended up decapitating its head and fee...

Re: Rhino 6 3D Model Import Fails

I checked with Vectric Support when Rhino 6 came out and they didn't seem like they were going to support it anytime soon. Save it in Rhino 4 or 5 and you'll be able to import it into Aspire. They're about ready to upgrade to Rhino 7 pretty soon, which I'm liking their Rhino 7 WIP quite alot.

Re: The Maple Ring finish

It turned out well, however it will be very brittle and easy to snap in two. You may try a different material like an acrylic solid surface, such as Avonite. You will get a better finish without the fussies. Look at Randall's project: https://forum.vectric.com/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=35274 and look how...

Grizzly Bear

My granddaughter is opening up a beauty salon and I thought “Great, there’s another place I can put my projects”. I thought something out of wood or that has the metal coatings I’ve been doing wouldn’t go to well, so I thought about this Grizzy Bear using Micheal Tyler’s Marbleize Jade Technique. I ...

Re: Basic rotary question.

Since you originally started with Zero Position at the center, the Z Gap above the material may be extremely high after you re-positioned it to cylinder surface, may be why it's raising past the limits. Double check in the material setup the Z gap and reset at a lower amount. Without the file, it's ...

Re: Making animal heads

Probably one of the fast and simplest way is to download a stl file, then imported. (Adjust angle as necessary). This example was a free download from Thingiverse.

Sounds to me you need to calibrate the steps in your controller. I have Mach3. If that's the same as yours, I can show you. If it's another one, maybe someone else can chime in.

Re: Drive Stand - 3D Print

About 5-years ago I wanted to get a top of line 3D printer so I got a Stratasys UPrint SE Plus that cost $23,000, that has two nozzles that prints PLA for the support and ABS for the material, and has all the bells and whistles including a washer to melt off the support material. At the time, there ...

You guys ever have "One of those projects"?! :D
Had to laugh as I was reading. Been there, done that. You'll always have one of those projects. By the way, your project, besides having all the problems turned out beautiful.

Re: Coping a paper pattern

I bought some intarsia plans, which came in a 24" x 36" size. I had FedEx scan them and put into a pdf file. From there, I was able to use various software like Aspire, Adobe Illustrator, Coral Draw, Photoshop, etc to get the vectors I needed.
